- We will be parked at Berth 2 between the Visitors Bureau and the Tongass Trading Dock Store. We will meet you at the bronze statue called "The Rock" with a sign. If you are docked at Ward Cove, you will have to take the free shuttle to town walk to Berth 2 to meet us.
Description
Explore Ketchikan in our '67 Volkswagen van. You can enjoy learning about Ketchikan's colorful past, rich Native history, and the flora and fauna that make Southeast Alaska such a wonderful place. Our stops include but are not limited to a local Alaskan beach for intertidal exploration (tidal dependent), photo stops along Nichols Passage, a dazzling waterfall, and a stop at scenic Herring Cove for the possibility to spot wildlife (not guaranteed). Substituting the Saxman Totem Park or a short hike for any of the options above is also available. This tour can be completely customized to fit your itinerary. Just let our guide know; he will use his local knowledge to create an adventure you won't soon forget! This tour is an excellent option for all ages and guests who enjoy exploring with local guides! *Please keep in mind that each tour is different and tour stops may be changed by our guides due to tides, traffic, road construction, and weather.

We will meet and greet our group on the dock at Berth 2 near the Rock Statue.
Ketchikan
As we drive through historical Ketchikan you will learn about the town's colorful past.
Rotary Beach Park
At Rotary Beach we will have time to explore an Alaskan Beach. Our guides will point out the flora and fauna, some that only live in this niche ecosystem. If the tide is right, we can look for tide pool creatures. The view out over Nichols passage makes for the perfect photo opportunity. This is also a great spot to scan for wildlife (not guaranteed). *Due to traffic/road construction/tides/changing Ketchikan Borough regulations another beach may be substituted for this visit
Herring Cove
This stop includes scenic views of Herring Cove. Herring cove is home to the sight of one of our many fish hatcheries. Our guide might even share a story of running around the hatchery as a kid. This sight is an excellent spot to look for eagles and other wildlife (not guaranteed). *This stop may be substituted for another stopped based on traffic/road construction (Especially for tours leaving out of Ward Cove).
Ketchikan
Our last stop is at amazing waterfall that is just a few steps off the road. This stop also puts you into the heart of the rainforest here in Ketchikan. If it is in season, you might even get to see our amazing salmon berries in bloom. *This stop may not apply for tours leaving out of Ward Cove
Ketchikan
As we drive back to town, we will make our way along the Tongass Narrows where you can hear about the rich fishing history of Southeast Alaska. If time allows, we will make one final photo stop looking out over Nichols Passage.

Worth every penny!
We couldn't have asked for a better person to be our tour guide. It was like riding around with a friend. Initially what caught our eyes was the VW Bus. We come from that time where everything VW was cool. What we got were the best spots to see nature, that we didn't even know we needed to see. He dropped knowledge on us that made us appreciate what we were seeing. Other tours were charging 2.5x what he was charging to HOPEFULLY see seals, birds, whales, and bears on their natural habitat. 100% - we saw them. We paid for a tour and feel like all the animal sighting were free! While on a cruise, we wanted to see beyond the port. Tristan's humble nature was such a vibe. We could talk about anything. The "rain forest" he took us too was something straight out of Lord of the Rings and could not truly be captured in a picture or video. Best decision we made. More than worth the cost. Thanks Tristan!

Worth every cent!
We could not have asked for a better tour guide than Tristan. Initially what caught our eye was the VW Bus. We come from that era where VW anything was cool. What we got were the best spots to see nature that we didnt even know we needed to see. Other tours were charging $300+ PER PERSON to HOPEFULLY see seals, whales, and Bears - I feel like we got to see all that for free while Tristan showed us beautiful places in Ketchikan. While on a cruise, we wanted to see beyond the port. Tristan's humble nature was such a vibe. We could talk about anything. The little "rain forest" he shared could not be truly captured with a photo. It was something out of Lord of the Rings. We were more than happy to have chosen those tour. Well worth the money. VW camper was So cool ( spacious and comfortable ) Tristan found all the great wildlife so knowledgeable definable a lifelong memory and his wife found some other amazing marine life to show us took some awesome pics for us thank you both

Do hesitate to book it!
I highly recommend this tour. Tristan was fantastic! We had a great time exploring the area. He took us to some great spots where we were able to see lots of wildlife and got some great pictures. I would definitely do this tour again. Also riding in the VW van was a bonus. Lots of fun!

Classic vehicle combined with great host
What a great way to get out of Ketchikan to see some wildlife - Tristan was a great guide and knew about area and wildlife. The 1967 VW caught everyone’s eyes externally but we were surprised how comfy it was inside - we saw a lot of school bus conversions and mini buses but the VW outshone !

Great tour with Tristan
This tour was very informative about the area and the 67 VW van turned heads all day. The van was very clean and comfortable. Tristan provided a wealth of information about Ketchikan. We were able to see salmon, bears and bald eagles. Would definitely recommend this tour to anyone with a few hours in Ketchikan.

Wow!
Had a blast! We got to see bears and a couple of cute cubs. Bald eagle baby’s and star fish! A beautiful waterfall. Get out of the crazy shopping area around Ketchikan and do this tour. Just Beautiful!
