⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I had a fantastic experience with Explore Skye and cannot recommend them highly enough. I booked two private tours, one focused on North Skye and the other on West Skye, and both days were highlights of my time on the Isle of Skye. David made the entire booking process seamless and worked with me to customize the tours around the places I most wanted to see and spend time exploring. I really appreciated the flexibility and personal attention rather than feeling tied to a standard itinerary. Eilidh was my guide for North Skye and Joanna for West Skye, and both were wonderful. They were warm, knowledgeable, and great company, sharing local insight and stories while making sure the days unfolded at a comfortable pace. I never felt rushed, and there was plenty of flexibility to linger at the places I particularly enjoyed. Everything was incredibly well organized from beginning to end, yet the experience still felt relaxed and personal. I came away feeling that I had really experienced Skye rather than simply checked off its major sights. A huge thank you to David, Eilidh, and Joanna for two memorable days. I had the best time and would absolutely book with Explore Skye again.
A perfect day tooling around Skye. Eilidh is an absolute gem. She is local through-and-through, knows the island like the back of her hand. Very engaging and easy to talk with, and provides little bits of local insight. Adapted the day to our needs and preferences. Handled the sometimes-trying driving situations with confidence. Overall, we had a couple of enjoyable days on Skye, but the experience was quite different from what we had expected. Explore Skye markets its private tours as customised tours tailored to your interests, allowing you to explore the Isle of Skye at your own pace. The website also states that tours last between 8 and 10 hours. However, just a few days before our trip, we found out that our guide would not be the person we had been planning the itinerary with, and that each tour would in fact be limited to 8 hours. Unfortunately, several of the places and preferences we had discussed in advance, and which were also listed in our booking confirmation, had not been passed on to our guide. We were left with the impression that the tours followed a fairly fixed itinerary rather than being genuinely tailored to our interests. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable, but there seemed to be a strong focus on keeping to the schedule and finishing within the 8-hour limit. We did get to see some beautiful parts of Skye, and we appreciated our guide's company. However, we missed the flexibility and personalisation that we expected from a private tour. In the end, it didn't feel significantly different from joining one of the larger coach tours that operate around the island, which was disappointing given the premium price of a private experience.

We had a wonderful experience with Explore Skye - I would highly recommend. We arranged a private tour. There were 3 of us, my husband and I, and my 18 year old son. They customized our itinerary based on the sights we wanted to see and our interests. Our tour guide, Eilidh, was fantastic. She is from the Isle of Skye so not only knew the area and history, but also many people we encountered during our trip! Many other tours just go for the day and the guides are from another part of Scotland, it was great to hear about Skye from a local's perspective. The area is so beautiful. We wanted an active experience, and Explore Skye delivered. Eilidh took us to the Fairy Pools, Old Man of Storr, Quiraing, and the Faerie Pools, and we made many stops along the way (an area where dinosaur fossils were found, to see a hairy coo...). By the way, if you want to do a similar itinerary, I recommend that you wear hiking boots or trail runners with grip (and you may need a fleece and rain coat). It was our favorite day during our trip to Scotland.

Don’t try and do a tour of Skye on your own! Let a local expert navigate the driving and parking and see everything you will want to see. They will take excellent care of you, fit the tour to your personality and expectations. Great communication on the front end as well.
