The first part of the trail consists of a mixture of endemic and introduced vegetation after the discovery of the island. You can see various perspectives of the village at a distance.
In the second part, the trail penetrates into the interior of the island, that stills remains the same since before its discovery, more than five centuries ago. In this path you find the natural flora and fauna of Madeira, which include laurel, heather, chaffinch, among many, many others.

Unforgettable experience
On 24.04.2026 we embarked on the “Levada do Rei” with the guide Duarte Nuno and the experience was simply fantastic. It largely exceeded our expectations, thanks to Duarte.
He is a native communicator, always guiding us with clarity, enthusiasm and a truly contagious passion. She demonstrated a high level of professionalism throughout the whole journey, making us feel safe and very well accompanied.

What a brilliant trip
To be honest I’m not sure if the activity I picked for this review is actually the one we did but it really doesn’t matter - it was a magical and thoroughly enjoyable experience regardless.
Our superb guide picked us up at the hotel and we enjoyed learning all about this history of the island and the laverda whilst we drove into the mountains. The walk itself was lovely (cool and flat!) and the scenery just breathtaking . If I were not travelling home soon I would spend many more hours hiking with this company. There are lots of options for laverda walks on Tripadvisor but this one very much deserves its high rating and I cannot recommend it more strongly.

Levada do Rei
We really enjoyed the hike with Marco, the nature is very impressive and Marco is a particularly caring companion. He told us a lot about the levadas, the vegetation and the culture of Madeira. He also encouraged me to drink a Nikita - I was amazed how good a mix of vanilla ice cream, pineapple juice and BEER can taste! We can recommend Pearl of Atlantic!

Fantastic walk.
I made this walk in one of my visits to Madeira with friends. It was all very well organized by the Enterprise and its staff was exceptional. Definitely an Enterprise to recommend.

the magic nature in Madeira
A fantastic walk along the Lecada Do Rei through the uncontaminated nature of Madeira.
Our guide, Richard, was excellent: during the walk he took us a lot of photos and he took us to visit Santana's houses although it was not included.
My children and I will never forget this wonderful experience!
