Description
Imagine meeting an old friend who is a historian and a great story teller for drink or two and having him show you around. That's exactly what your Barwalk tour will be like. My name is Emzy. I've been guiding guests around San Antonio for over twenty years and I invite you to join me for lunch, a cocktail and an afternoon of all things history. We will meet in the lobby of the historic Menger Hotel before a brief walk through and discussion of all things Alamo before heading to the world famous riverwalk for a lunch at a locally owned bistro. We conclude our afternoon back at the Menger Bar for a digestif and private tour of the historic hotel and bar. The Menger Hotel bar that Teddy Roosevelt bellied up to in May of 1898 and recruited many his Rough Riders after a round or two. Drink in hand we will then explore the oldest hotel west of the Mississippi and discover it's many secrets including the history behind why it is reportedly the most haunted hotel in Texas.

Menger Bar
We will belly to the beautiful and historic Menger Bar, the same bar where Teddy Roosevelt recruited many of his famous Rough Riders and then explore the oldest hotel west of the Mississippi River with drink in hand.

Truly Unique Experience!
This is something different and inspiring. Emzy is incredibly knowledgeable and personable. He showed us so much that we would have not learned with anyone else. Such a great time!!!

The perfect tour for us..
We had a great time. The tour only consisted of my husband and I plus our great guide Emyz. It was great getting the one to one time. Food and drink were good as well

Fantastic in depth review of area history
Guide, Emzy, was incredibly knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the history of the area, had more photos then the National Archives to show and discuss.

Awesome Emzy
This was my wife and I second trip with Emzy. We came in 2014-2015 and then now, October 2022. We a great experience both times. Emzy knows his San Antonio history!!!! You will visit the most prominent bars in the area, after all, that’s where famous people hang out right? You will hear stories that are really cool and then the photos to back it up. If you truly like history then this tour is for you. Thanks again Emzy!!

Had a great time!!!
Emzy was so knowledgeable and knew so much history about San Antonio, whether it be music, architecture or just stories that “no one knows”. My husband, daughter (early 20s) and I all enjoyed spending time with Emzy on this “private” tour. He made it so comfortable and customized the tour to our interests. His ability to pull pictures up on his tablet to enhance his stories was amazing. Highly recommended!!!

Very knowledgeable and we...
Very knowledgeable and we loved the history. Great info with research into fact finding. Told us to visit SoHo Bar and Winery to get a taste of San Antonio. Took a LYFT there and there was a sign that said they were closed for business.
