We had a great night with Lorette, learning about her food & culture. The meal of butter chicken & roti was great as was the Malva pudding for dessert. All washed down with a nice sauvignon Blanc. It was great to be able to go to a local home and understand food & culture. I highly recommend this experience to anyone wanting to enjoy South African food & culture in local home.
Loretta was so friendly and a really great chef. Her recipes were easy to follow and super tasty. We had a wonderful time in her beautiful home. The highlight was making our own roti’s and of course eating the delicious food. Highly recommend this experience.

If you want to really delve into the Malay food and culture of South Africa, there is no better option than Lorette. She is welcoming and happy to share her home, history, and food. My husband and I love food and cooking but no prior cooking experience is needed. We made the most wonderful butter chicken, roti, and Malva pudding which we easily recreated - chicken and roti - back at home. Being with Lorette is like being with an old friend. She adeptly guided us through the steps for making the meal and then we all sat together eating and talking. It was one of the best experiences in a week of great memories. This was such an awesome experience, I absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting Cape Town. We cooked the best meal we had on our entire vacation (butter chicken is my new favorite dish) and just had an all-around excellent time. Do this cooking class! You won't regret it!
Working with Aashi at Traveling Spoon was great. She was efficient, timely and honest. I hope to work with her more often. Our experience cooking with Lorette and meeting her family was AWESOME. A definite highlight of our Cape Town visit. Lorette is a fabulous cook, her home is warm and inviting, she is a kind and patient teacher and lots of fun. Everyone in my group of 9 persons loved, loved the experience. They can’t wait to try her recipe of African traditional dishes at home.

Spending our evening with Lorette was amazing. Her warm hospitality and experience with African recipes was exactly what we were looking for.
