Must do to see the sea caves!
If you want to see Ortigia and the surrounding coastline from the best possible angle, this private boat tour is an absolute must.
What Made It Great
Incredible Coastal Views: Cruising around the perimeter of Ortigia Island gives you a unique perspective of the city's defense walls and skyline. The view of Castello Maniace from the water as you loop around the tip of the island is breathtaking.
Exploring the Sea Caves: Visiting the Grotta della Pillirina and the surrounding limestone formations along the Plemmirio coast was a highlight. The waters around the caves are crystal-clear and stunningly turquoise.
Refreshing Aperitif: Enjoying a cold drink on board while passing the Lungomare Alfeo and the outer harbor makes the entire experience feel relaxed and luxurious.
Great Logistics: The boat is comfortable, easy to board from the Ortigia bridges, and the timing gives you plenty of time to take in the sights without feeling rushed.
Tips for Future Travelers
Don't forget sunscreen and sunglasses—the sun reflecting off the Porto Grande can be intense even late in the afternoon.
Also, bring a swimsuit; they allow you to swim!

Highly recommended experience
I spent 3 wonderful days in Ortigia for my birthday, a gift from my husband, and the best moment was definitely the boat excursion with Siracuse Excursion.
I want to compliment the whole staff, in particular Franco, who was driving. Even though the sea was a bit rough, with him we felt almost nothing. He always made us feel safe. A very good person, very knowledgeable, polite and very kind.
The guide was Gabriele, very knowledgeable and super nice. He managed to engage us. He knows the history in the smallest detail and told us anecdotes and legends that touch your heart.
Thanks to him, we visited places I will never forget: the Stalactite Cave, the Coral Cave, the rocks with incredible shapes that look like animals, and much more. The most exciting moment? The heart-shaped cave, perfect for lovers.
I highly recommend this excursion to anyone coming to Syracuse/Ortigia. It was the highlight of my birthday.
Thanks again to Franco and Gabriele from Siracuse Excursion for making this day special 💙

Fantastic Excursion
We had the best time on this 2-hour private boat ride with our captain, Miguel. It was a great way to see Syracuse and Ortigia from the sea. The caves were fascinating. Miguel played an audio guide at certain points which gave us the facts of different landmarks. Miguel is very friendly and we had a lot of fun. It was a great vibe with music, fruit, prosecco, and swimming. We could not have asked for a better start to our vacation.
Note: The pickup spot may be a little different than listed. Make sure to give yourself plenty of time to make sure you arrive on time.

Boat Tour
Our boat Captain was Ninnie. He was so funny. Very very knowledgable on the history of the local area and the whole of Sicily. He was also able to answer all of our questions. I took notes in my phone and he helped me with the spelling as well. We would highly recommend this tour.

Nice boat ride but just an average "tour"
It was nice to see the island from the water and the caves were pretty cool. The driver of the boat was very nice but didn't speak English well and offered very little information about what we were seeing on the coastline. It was more like a boat ride than a tour. Really a little disappointing since our time was limited and we probably could have had a better experience and learned more about the area on a 2-hour land tour.

Was just ok. Very little prosecco and fruit. Suggest a cheaper ride
Just so-so and expensive, We were a group of 4 and only got a half a plastic cup of prosecco, not sure what they did with the other half of the bottle when we left. Fruit was just a few peaches and grapes. We thought it was expensive for what we got. Suggest comparing prices when you are there, as this was just a ride on a fishing boat with just a few sips of prosecco at the end. Guide’s English was hard to understand

Great way to see Siracusa
Great boat tour! Ninni was a great Captain, giving us a great history of Ortega and Siracusa over the year and some Sicilian culture. If we wanted to we had the opportunity to swim but we had a fancy dinner reservation right after and not enough time to change (our issue, not the tour) so we chose to not swim. We saw a few caves, the two ports, and chose the time to see a beautiful sunset. So much fun! I would also advise the meeting point is a booth on the opposite corner from the physical address- which we should have realized. Once spotted the crew promptly walked us to the boat (it would be very easy to get lost which is why the meeting spot) and put us into Ninni’s great hands.
