Join your host Putu in her kitchen for a private, hands-on cooking class. Unlike many other TripAdvisor tours, this is a private experience. You and your host will prepare 2-3 authentic Balinese dishes. As you chop, grind and grill, Putu will teach you about the spices she uses in her family recipes as well as the medicinal qualities of Balinese ingredients. Putu's kitchen is simple, with only a two-burner cooktop but you will be impressed by the speed and fluidity with which she prepares a complex menu with multiple dishes. You will taste a variety of authentic dishes with potential ones being Putu’s grilled eggplant with tomato, grilled fish with Balinese sambal (chili sauce), a curry dish (either chicken, fish or vegetarian) or perhaps a variety of pepes (foods seasoned with local spices, wrapped in banana leaves and steamed). You can expect the cooking lesson to last about 1-2 hours before you sit down and enjoy the delicious meal you helped prepare with your host and her family.

Puts was awesome! We made 5 different dishes, all hands on. Very fun and tasty. You can choose you.level of heat and add more or.less to the next dish as you sample each one as it's cooled. Putu also had options for.making the dishes vegan. Highly recommend.

Teacher Putu’s Balinese cooking class was an absolute highlight of our girls' trip! From the moment we arrived, everything was exceptionally organized, warm, and welcoming. Putu gave us a wonderful, hands-on crash course into authentic Balinese cooking and the rich culture behind every traditional dish. Her instructions were clear, engaging, and so easy to follow, making the entire experience both educational and tons of fun. The ingredients were incredibly fresh, and the final feast we prepared together was delicious beyond expectations. We had such a memorable time bonding over amazing food and incredible hospitality. I highly recommend this class to anyone visiting Bali!

Brilliant morning. Putu was an excellent teacher, explaining what we had to do and why. The location is lovely, out in the countryside at a beautiful house. My kids, (14 and 16) and I all got to prepare different elements and cook different things. The final results tasted excellent and we are already planning to make the recipes again when we get home. The only problem was that we made too much.
On 16 August, we took part in a cooking workshop with Putu in Ubud. It was a wonderful experience. Not only did we get to discover Balinese cuisine by preparing five dishes together, but we also learned a lot about the interaction between their beloved chillies and the other ingredients. For example, why you should only use half a chilli in one dish because another ingredient intensifies the heat, while in other dishes you can easily use two chillies. Putu explains everything perfectly and shares lots of useful tips and tricks. She also knows how to get everyone involved and actively participating. You can really see that she genuinely enjoys cooking, but also loves sharing her knowledge with others. The Perkedel jagung we made ourselves turned out to be the best ones we tasted during our entire trip through Java and Bali! We prepared quite a lot of food, but we thoroughly enjoyed every bite. It was definitely an experience we would love to repeat. And after the workshop, Putu also sends you all the recipes, so you can recreate the dishes at home and relive the experience. A perfect way to end our trip!
This is the best experience we had in Ubud. Putu is a very kind, enthousiastic and passionate cook. Pickup was excellent, we got a tour at Putu’s house, and made delicious meals with products from her own garden. Would recommend 100% for anyone!
