Itinerary
At the must-see Miraflores Visitor Center, you'll witness the engineering marvel of massive ships being raised from the Pacific and lowered when coming from the Atlantic. Your visit also includes a captivating 45-minute 3D documentary, narrated by Morgan Freeman, which traces the Canal's historic construction and its evolution into the modern wonder it is today.
Located at the Pacific entrance of the Panama Canal, this scenic man-made causeway connects three beautiful islands. Originally built as a military defense and breakwater, it is now a vibrant waterfront destination where you can enjoy magnificent views of the city skyline and watch massive ships lining up to enter the Canal.
Discover the historic heart of Panama City in this designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. Founded in 1673, this beautifully restored neighborhood offers a journey through centuries of history. You'll wander past stunning colonial facades and picturesque plazas as your guide brings the fascinating stories of the past to life
We will pass by the lively Plaza Herrera, an important historic square dedicated to General Tomás Herrera. Surrounded by beautifully restored colonial facades, it is one of the most vibrant and charming intersections in the historic district.
Enjoy scenic views as we pass by the iconic American Trade Hotel. This beautifully restored neoclassic building is one of the most photographed landmarks in the old quarter and stands as a stunning testament to Panama's rich history and architectural revival.
Take in the sights as we pass by the striking ruins of Iglesia La Compañía de Jesús. Dating back to 1741, the remnants of this former church and convent offer a fascinating glimpse into Panama's colonial era and historic architecture.
We will stop to stroll through Plaza Mayor (also known as Plaza de the Independencia), the historic heart of Casco Viejo. Enjoy a guided walk through this beautiful main square where Panama's independence was declared, surrounded by magnificent landmarks like the Metropolitan Cathedral.
Admire the elegant facade of Hotel Central, famously known as the very first hotel in Panama. Built in 1874, this beautifully restored French-style building once hosted early canal engineers, international diplomats, and even U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt during the Canal's historic construction.
Look out for the famous Arco Chato (Flat Arch) as we pass by this 17th-century architectural marvel. These historic ruins remained standing for centuries, famously proving Panama's seismic stability to engineers before the construction of the Panama Canal
Admire the elegant Plaza de Francia as we pass by this picturesque square. Dedicated to the French pioneers who first attempted to build the Panama Canal, it features a towering obelisk and historic sea walls (Las Bóvedas) with beautiful colonial charm.

Nice experience. The guide was very professional and provided us with good information. Recommended for family trips.
We had an excellent private tour of the Panama Canal this past Friday, and Jose was the perfect guide. Even though many places were closed for Good Friday, he still managed to give us an incredible experience. Jose was punctual, professional, and full of knowledge about the Canal and Panama’s history. He took the time to show us key parts of Panama City, sharing local insights and pointing out interesting spots along the way. His passion for his country really came through, and he made the whole tour feel personal and engaging. If you’re looking for a great private tour in Panama, ask for Jose. You won’t be disappointed!
Excellent tour! Our guide was very flexible about scheduling a time for the tour. He was very knowledgeable about Panama and we were impressed with how much we learned in a short time. We love private tours because we can hear better, ask questions, and really see the parts of an area that interest us most. First stop was the Miraflores Center. Our guide made sure to get us there at the right time for the English version of the IMAX movie. Highly recommend because it shows and explains what you see at the Canal. Again, our guide provided excellent details about the Canal history and operation. Our guide then took us to a wonderful vantage point for seeing an overview of Panama. Finally we drove through the old parts of Panama City. Our guide provided recommendations for what to see and do there. Great tour!
Amazing tour. A must. Great tour. Amazing and knowledgeable Tour guide. A must to do when in Panama!!
Our guide Rick was friendly and personable l. He has a rich knowledge of of the country of Panama and the city of Panama City. He planned out our day perfect And we were able to see so much in a relatively short amount of time. He saved the Panamá Canal for last as most ships pass through during the afternoon. He took us to a more affordable souvenir shop to help us save money as well. You won’t be disappointed with him.
Worthwhile experience: Josè was an excellent guide, picked us up right on time and van very knowledgeable and courteous. We wanted to stop at a restaurant for a traditional Panamanian meal and he found us the perfect spot. Highly recommended!
