They cancelled the tour 20 minutes before start. They could have called as they had asked for my telephone number, but they didn’t. They emailed, useless 20 minutes before. Wasted a $22 uber ride and my afternoon. Company should have been able to find a replacement. Highly recommend using any other company.
Hi Scott, that is a very annoying thing to have happen to you and I feel your frustration. It wasn't with me however. When you book with me it is by email and we are in direct touch, have each others phone numbers and agree a start point and time individual to you. I only offer private tours now for some years. I have never cancelled a tour and, if I did, I certainly would not do it the way you describe! I hope you see this response and find the right place for this review to be posted as it is valid criticism when aimed at the correct person. I see you also posted it for a company called "Free Walking Tours Amsterdam" so not sure why you posted it in 2 places. Perhaps that is where it was intended for and somehow you posted it again in another place? Best wishes Mark
Walking through the Jordaan and canal zone with Mark was the highlight of our visit. He has a great depth of knowledge of the history and architecture of the area and really personalized the tour to our interests. We even took part in a folk sing-along and got a lot of laughs practicing our Dutch in an authentic brown bar. We felt like we were seeing Amsterdam with an old friend, and at the end had a much greater appreciation for this amazing city. Highly recommend!
Hi, thanks for taking time to leave a review, it was a fun day and a pleasure showing you around. Just so people reading this don't think I burst into song each tour - we popped into the Norderkerk and there was a neighbourhood choir singing sentimental Amsterdam songs - so in that case, a sing along is inevitable!
We enjoyed a wonderful morning to afternoon walk through the Jordaan, Central Amsterdam including the red light district. Mark was super knowledgeable, friendly, funny and had great enthusiasm. He loves his job and it shows. He’d provided great recommendations for dining enjoying other highlights. Marks’s style is warm and comfortable for all kinds of travelers. Would totally recommend. Four hours flew by!
Thank you, what a great endorsement, I appreciate it very much!
On my return to Amsterdam, I booked a three-hour walking tour of the city so my husband could experience it (it was his first time), and Mark was a terrific guide as was true when I used him two years ago for my first (solo) visit. He is entertaining, informative without being overly wonky, and we even covered some different stuff from my prior tour. Brett really enjoyed it, and since that was the main goal, I am very happy about that. I strongly recommend him!
Lovely meeting you again and Brett as well. Great to hear you enjoyed our time in the city together.
Very entertaining very insightful
Thank you!
Mark was excellent. He’s very well informed on all things ‘Amsterdam’ . He has a great grasp of the overall fascinating history of Amsterdam as well as the Red light District.
Thanks for your kind words :) I love all things about Amsterdam and indeed, the Red Light is a complex and intersting element of the city!
Hello colleagues, I am at work. I wish you all the best.
That Damn Guide, Mark, is an independent tour guide in Amsterdam and provided our family with an excellent, private walking tour experience. He's very knowledgeable, very funny, and offers a unique perspective on Amsterdam with interesting insights into the rich culture and history of this city. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with him and he comes highly recommended!
My wife and I did a 4-hour private tour of Amsterdam and the Jordaan neighborhood with Mark in May. Mark is very knowledgable, personable and enthusiastic about Amsterdam. The pace of the tour was comfortable and we received a lot of tips that enhanced our stay in this beautiful city. We would highly recommend Mark and his Introduction to Amsterdam Tour.
