The Le Havre Cruise Terminal welcomes cruise ships at the Roger Meunier, Pierre Callet, and Joannes Couvert quays. This terminal, open only on stopover days, serves as a major gateway for travelers seeking to explore Northern Europe, the Mediterranean, and even transatlantic destinations. Le Havre, a city with a rich maritime history, has rebuilt itself after the devastating bombings of September 1944, which destroyed much of the city. Today, it stands out not only for its modern architecture but also for its vitality as the main port of call and embarkation in northern France. Over the past decade, cruise travel has seen significant growth here, further solidifying Le Havre's position as a key hub for maritime journeys to numerous destinations.

The bridge was designed by Michel Virlogeux, the general studies having been led by Bernard Raspaud from Bouygues. The works management was shared between G. Barlet and P. Jacquet. The architects were François Doyelle and Charles Lavigne. Construction by Bouygues, Campenon Bernard, Dumez, Monberg & Thorsen, Quillery, Sogea and Spie Batignolles began in 1988 and lasted seven years. The bridge opened on 20 January 1995.

The Vieux Bassin of Honfleur is the beating heart of this charming Norman port town, renowned for its authentic character and unique maritime atmosphere. Dug in the Middle Ages, this historic harbor played a central role in Honfleur's commercial growth, serving as the home port for merchant ships and fishing boats that shaped the town's history. Surrounded by colorful half-timbered houses, renowned seafood restaurants, and lively art galleries, the Vieux Bassin offers an enchanting, postcard-perfect setting. Its picturesque quays, lined with vibrant fishing boats and elegant sailboats, create an idyllic backdrop for a romantic stroll or a leisurely meal on a sunlit terrace. This iconic spot has also inspired many famous artists, including Gustave Courbet and Eugène Boudin, who found endless creative inspiration in its maritime landscapes. Today, the Vieux Bassin continues to captivate visitors with its timeless charm and bewitching atmosphere, seemingly suspended in time.

30 min

The Church of Sainte-Catherine in Honfleur is an exceptional architectural treasure, embodying the rich historical and maritime heritage of the town. Built in the late 15th century, this entirely wooden church is the largest of its kind in France, making it a truly remarkable monument. Its unique architecture is the result of the craftsmanship of the shipbuilders of the time, who applied naval construction techniques to create this place of worship. The main nave, with its shape resembling an overturned ship’s hull, is supported by massive oak beams, exuding both strength and elegance. The detached bell tower, reminiscent of an old ship’s lighthouse, further emphasizes the maritime connection that defines Honfleur. Dedicated to Saint Catherine, the patron saint of carpenters, the church reflects the significance of this community in Honfleur’s history as a once-thriving maritime port.

30 min

Built in the early 17th century, this chapel is a cherished pilgrimage site for local sailors and fishermen, who come to pay their respects to the Virgin Mary and seek her protection before setting out to sea. The chapel’s architecture is marked by its understated elegance, with stone walls and a slate roof that blend seamlessly into the surrounding landscape. Inside, the peaceful atmosphere is enhanced by delicate stained glass windows that cast soothing patterns of light on the wooden walls. The sanctuary houses a revered statue of Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, surrounded by numerous votive offerings from grateful mariners. The intersection of faith and maritime tradition is also evident in the ceremonies held here, including ship blessings and prayers for safe voyages. The Chapelle Notre-Dame-de-Grâce is a haven where history, devotion, and natural beauty converge, providing visitors with an experience of charm and authenticity.

30 min

Located a few hundred meters from the Notre-Dame de Grâce chapel. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to capture breathtaking views of Honfleur, the Normandy Bridge, and the Seine estuary. Enjoy these stunning panoramas while your guide shares captivating stories about the Vikings in Honfleur and significant events from World War II that shaped the region. Tour of A Lifetime

Thomas, Remy and John were just a joy! From start to finish, we learned and we laughed. These gentlemen made us feel as though we were life long friends. Their knowledge was impressive and the ride kept a smile on our faces the entire 3.5 hours. We are avid travellers and this experience not only left us with a lifelong memory, but proved to be the best in our 20 years of travel. Bravo gentlemen!!

One word -WOW!

This was close to the best part of our trip. We were picked up and dropped off at our ship by Nicolas. Great personality, sense of humor and a history buff. We had the best time and riding on the back of a motorcycle was exciting to say the least. The town of Honfleur was great to visit-charming with plenty to see. The visit to the apple cider farm tasting was delicious and memorable. Highly recommend this adventure.

Awesome!!! Must do experience!

Fantastic experience! Owner lead tour and it was fantastic. Bike was safe and he was a great driver. Awesome attitude and he was very knowledgeable. Tour was well planned out. I would recommend to the owner to expand the tour by 30 mins to allow for a quick gift shop stop. The tour of HonFluer was excellent and we would have loved to get a souvenir.

Wonderfully Delightful Adventure

Wonderfully Delightful Adventure. We booked the motorcycle with sidecar excursion on a last minute whim. Frankly, in terms of Viator adventures it was the best of decisions! We sure lucked out when our driver/guide Remi showed up on time, with as much enthusiasm as his two elderly passengers. After explaining the day and fitting us with comfortable helmets we set off for the 40 minute ride to Honfleur in the Calvados Region of France. Remi expertly navigated the traffic taking us over a very steep highway bridge. Scary at first but his motorcycle skills quickly put us at ease. Once in Honfleur, we set off for a walking tour of the popular tourist destination. We could tell at once that Remi enjoyed showing us the city he loves. Taking us to unusual spots explaining the history and architecture. Remi was witty, friendly and downright hilarious with a vast knowledge that he freely shared. Once we left town, he took us to his favorite bakery to pick up a couple of French baguette sandwiches before heading to a 4Th generation Cidery. There we enjoyed the landscape as Mary Anna shared her expertise in the cider and Calvados making process while offering us tastes! Next it was off to Notre Dame, the seafaring Catholic Church, complete with working artists capturing the landscape on canvas. We road along country roads to then get to the spot that overlooked beautiful Honfleur. I could go on and on. But suffice it to say that Remi made the day what it was! An adventure that we will never forget. Thank You!

Don't miss this unique experience

What a wonderfully unique way to see Normandy! Certainly I'm showing off the pictures to friends back home. Nicholas was our driver and guide. Tres bon!! Le Havre is a huge port city and just a way to get to the Normandy Bridge, cross the estuary of the Seine and enter the town of Honfleur that dates back to the Vikings. See the three sections of the town, the oldest church made by the sailors, and leave to visit a 4th generation family farm where they make apple juice and cider. Despite the drizzle of rain (Nicholas had rain gear too for us) it was exceptional and I will seek out another tour elsewhere in France when the opportunity arises.

A unique experience you won’t regret.

My husband and I had a great time. Remy is a personable and excellent tour guide and driver. We had a great time learning about the area and the history. This was a great way to travel to and through Honfleur and the countryside. Definitely the highlight of our vacation. Thank you, Remy. All of our Calvados made it home and intact!
