Preston Manor Admission Ticket

We really enjoyed our visit here. The staff were so friendly and gave us a great introduction to this beautiful house. It was a rare treat to be able to visit both upstairs and downstairs in a Manor House! We also made use of the free audio guide which was informative. The cafe was really nice with a great selection of homemade sweet and savoury snack. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Brighton!

You only need to take a 10 minute bus ride from the Lanes (5 or 5A) or a similar short walk from Preston Park station. Admission for a couple can also be a great deal using 2for1 deal with train ticket. Anyhow, when you get there you're greeted with a real gem. Many rooms are still in their original decor and beautifully presented. Grounds are a real treat, particularly on a sunny day.

We used to live in Brighton but the major has just opened - it was a little treasure box, hidden in a green gem of Preston park. Been to many houses and manors, but Preston Manor is cute and unique.

Fantastic day out with Daisy the maid taking by us on a most interesting tour. We’re going again , next time for a daytime ghost tour. Wouldn’t dare go at night And the admission ticket is for the year.

What a little Brighton gem. It’s on the main A23 road into Brighton so it’s often overlooked. It’s a great stop-off though. Thoughtfully done as a day-in-the-life type experience from the viewpoint of both the lady of the house to the lowliest servants so it’s a real eye-opener with intimate details of the actual people who lived there about 100 years ago although the house is much older. The gardens are freely accessible from Preston Park without paying for admission to the house although you can access the toilets in the house. There’s a lovely little cafe that does amazing cakes and coffee.

Preston Manor is a small mansion typical of the period, where you can explore the lords' quarters and the servants' quarters. The walk there is also well worth it; the staff are very friendly, and there's a café with a terrace where you can recharge your batteries before heading back.

Had a wonderful afternoon at Preston Manor. Huge congratulations to the team of the recent restoration, the house looked wonderfully lived in, full of interesting unobtrusive interpretation and objects/art. The staff were wonderful in helping with accessibility and care as well as a great source of information. We then had a lovely healthy lunch and some cake in the beautiful tea room. Can't recommended enough and will be going back soon.

A great day out for all ages. Each room is beautifully and thoughtfully presented - you really feel as if the household have just gone out for the day and you are snooping around their home. Loved the breakfast table groaning with (fake) food examples - so realistic. If this makes you hungry, you can visit the cafe which has loads of delicious foods and drinks on offer. The walled garden is definitely worth a look too.

BRIGHTON’S HIDDEN GEM! Preston Manor has just reopened to the public in April 2025 and it’s a fantastic time capsule of life above and below stairs in the Edwardian period. Your entrance ticket allows you to come back within the year for free which is incredibly generous and you will want to return many times. If you live in Brighton and Hove, there’s a reduced admission fee for locals. I remember this museum as a child and I’ve seen its fortunes throughout almost 5 decades. This is its best period yet! There’s a brand-new free (with general admission price) audio tour using actors to bring the real people that live there to life and it really feels as if you’ve entered an Edwardian time slip. The audio guide uses a QR code and your own phone which is great because it means you can take photos (no flash) and not have to juggle between your phone and a bulky audio guide handset. The rooms are laid out as if the Stanford family have just got up and left for the day and you really feel as if they will be back later. To become so immersed in the Edwardian world as an incredibly rare treat. There’s a brand-new café that’s located in the manor’s formal dining room giving you a chance to enjoy a hot drink and delicious cake (vegan options too) in a grand historical room not an unmemorable modern add on that most museums have. Disabled visitors with blue badges can park on the grounds for free and for wheelchair users there is a lift from the lower ground floor to the ground floor. I recommend that a carer pops up the steps into the main entrance and asks the staff at the desk to provide help with the disabled access. Disabled visitors can enjoy the servants quarters on the lower ground floor as well as life for the Stamford family on the ground floor. The cafe is on the ground floor. Some people may know it from watching Most Haunted as it’s one of the most haunted locations in the UK. However, the ghosts appeared to be shy whenever I visit but adults and kids alike will have a lot of fun ghost hunting. My husband and I love Preston Manor so much that if we held our small wedding reception there in 2023 when it was closed to the public as we wanted a “haunted house theme” and the staff were amazing. Our guests said the venue made it the best wedding they’d ever been to as before our meal we went on a ghost tour of the manor led by the one of the manor’s ghost expert who even dressed up as a lady in black! You can rent Preston Manor for private dinner parties or weddings and you should contact the events team at Brighton and Hove museums if you want to do this.
