Pirates Bay/Eaglehawk Neck
Today is action packed and fast paced, so we make an early start from Hobart and drive directly to the stunning Tasman Peninsula. This area has amazing history, fascinating stories and spectacular scenery. It is also home to Australia’s highest sea cliffs. We enjoy the panoramic views of the area from Pirates Bay Lookout which provides a great vantage here of the surrounding area.
Tasman National Park
Passing through Eaglehawk Neck and “The Dogline” our Tour Guides will share with you some amazing history and stories of the area.
Waterfall Bay
We begin one of Tasmania’s “Great Short Walks”. This is a short but spectacular track along the Waterfall Bay Clifftop. The walk is around 45 minutes, undulating and categorised as an easy walk. The track concludes at the remarkable rock formations of Tasman Arch and Devil’s Kitchen.
Tasmanian Devil Unzoo
Next stop is the Tasmanian Devil Unzoo. We enjoy all the action of a Tasmanian Devil Feeding. Watch the snarling, fighting and bone crushing in a spectacle of devilish behaviour during the feeding. Hand feed the wallabies and walk among the local wildlife in this charming “Unzoo” setting.
Port Arthur
Continuing our journey, we arrive at Port Arthur Historic Site. As we enter the Port Arthur Historic Site, there is a wealth of information and history to take in and to explore. Your entry includes a complimentary Harbour Cruise around the Isle of the Dead, ‘The Port Arthur Experience' a podcast that provides a fascinating introduction to the site, and complimentary site talks throughout the day led by Port Arthur’s expert guides . Discover the grim and violent history of the early Australian Penal system and get a sense of the isolation experienced by the convicts in this “inescapable prison”. With around 2.5 hours here, you have time to walk among the main penitentiary; see the solitary confinement cells and many more buildings in this World Heritage open air museum.
On our return to Hobart, we travel via the historic township of Richmond. Arriving late the in the afternoon, you will have time to meander the streets, stop for a coffee, visit the Lolly Shop, Chocolatier and walk across Australia’s oldest bridge still in use – a convict built sand-stone bridge, reported to be haunted! We arrive back into Hobart around 6.00pm.

A great educational experience.
A great educational experience. Learned all about Tasmanian Devils at the Unzoo and exploring the Penal colony of Port Arthur was very informative and interesting.

Great tour and the guide was knowledgable. Felt rushed by the time we got to Port Arthur so didn’t feel like there was time to do that justice but still saw a lot and great way to see that part of the island if you don’t have a car

It is a full day of experiences. Be ready to walk! This was a great way to hit all of the highlights of the Tasman Peninsula.

Must-do tour for the first time visitor in Tasmania
It was probably our best decision to take this tour during our recent visit to Tasmania. This tour covers a lot of important tourist spots in Tasmania. Specially for the first timer who have only limited time. Matt our guide was great and patient. He gave us plenty of information during the tour so we know a little bit of history of the places we visited. We felt also that we had a good size of tour group of less than 10 people. We think that the allocated time was perfect for each place so we could have our own time to explore the places on our own. We definitely recommend this tour to everyone visiting Tasmania for the first time.

Awesome
This tour had all the highlights of Tasmania in one day. Patrick was excellent and made this the highlight of my three week Australia trip. Definitely book the unzoo, had live kangaroo and exotic bird feeding, and you could watch a real tasmanian devil feeding.

Really nice tour and scenic drive through the bays and to port Arthur. Visit to the Unzoo was truly amazing and you get to see the wildlife up close and it was a nice experience. Lots of time in Port Arther and the harbor cruise was great.
