Just off Samara’s coast lies Chora Island—a haven of white sand beach and aquamarine water. This kayak and snorkel tour allows you to easily paddle to Chora Island, where you can dive in the water, snorkel, and experience Costa Rica’s rich sea life. The starting time of this activity depends on the tide schedule.

We had a great experience doing the kayak and snorkeling excursion to Isla Chora. Our guide was Alex and he was excellent! He really went above and beyond! The snorkeling at the lava reef was great and we saw a huge variety of fish, including a porcupine fish, an eel, pufferfish, lots of colourful damselfish and parrotfish and an octopus! After a rest and snack and more snorkeling at the island, we paddled back to the beach and had the amazing experience of a sea turtle swimming alongside our kayak! Thanks Alex for leading a truly wonderful experience!
Knowledgeable and friendly guides. Well-organized trip with clear instructions. Watermelon/pineapple snack was a nice touch.
The tour guides are excellent. They kept our big group together and safe. The island and rocky outcrops are beautiful. But the snorkeling wasn’t very good. The coral reef that used to be there was killed off in an earthquake so there is little wildlife around there now. Water not great for visibility.
Alex was a great guide for the snorkeling and kayaking! He can help the weaker kayakers and will do his best to find some cool fish and creatures.
Beautiful experience: beautiful kayak ride, about 20 minutes from the island. We snorkeled directly from the beach: we saw beautiful fish and some people saw turtles. The guide was really very helpful to find the schools of fish and very friendly.
The trip for $57 per person is definitely not worth it. The trip went 2 hours and we saw nothing in this dead reef except a turtle. Sorry, but you can invest the money better.
Fun excursion! Our guides, Alex and Mauricio, kept us safe and found a nice spot for us to snorkel. I saw more fish than I have ever seen on previous snorkel trips.
Great trip kayaking to an island and snorkeling. Lots of fish, hermit crabs and iguanas. The guides were helpful and made it an excellent trip. Plenty of time to snorkle and relax before paddling back.

The views were amazing and our guide was so kind. While snorkeling I saw such cool fish and our guide showed us a brittle starfish he found.
