You'll learn about the island’s volcanic history as we take in breathtaking views of the highlands—a landscape dotted with dozens of volcanoes and serene lakes.
We'll have a glimpse of ancient Laurel Silva Forests, remnants of a time when these lush woodlands covered much of the earth.
We'll have a stop at Prainha for our picnic lunch with local flavors and a nice view.
In the afternoon, we'll dive into the island’s history and culture. We’ll explore the unique wine traditions of Pico, visiting charming coastal villages and other historic witnesses from the island’s golden age of winemaking.
We'll have a stroll through the UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you’ll gain a deeper appreciation for the challenges and triumphs of producing Pico’s exceptional wines.
You have the possibility to add and enjoy a guided wine tasting. You’ll taste 3 distinct volcanic wines with expert insights from a local winemaker (This is included in the tour price with optional winetasting I minimum age 18 years).
We'll end the day by entering into a lava tube, one of the many volcanic curiosities you'll discover during your tour.

What a wonderful tour of Pico! Even though our hotel was almost an hour away from the starting point, for a little extra money, Kevin picked us up in Madalena and the fun began! When they say you can experience all four seasons in one day, we sure did! But that didn’t deter Kevin one bit. He made sure we saw everything we wanted to, and should see on the island! We even went back to a few places to make sure we saw them when the clouds cleared. The entire day was perfectly paced, enjoyable (despite having to dry out from a heavy rain) and incredibly informative. Kevin knew the island so well and was able to answer all our questions. He also has a great sense of humor and was the perfect guide for us! Lunch was delicious, and mostly homegrown. The tomatoes were quite tasty! Private tours may cost a little extra, but they are well worth it! You see so much more and get to know your guide and the local culture so much better. Thanks, Kevin for an unforgettable day!

My husband and I had a great day getting to know Pico Island better with Kevin! No doubt, this is a full day, but we saw so much of the island and learned many new things along the way. This was the first time the two of us have done an entirely private tour, and Kevin is so personable and easy to get along with, so this was a great way to do it. He has multiple options to taylor the day to your interests and the weather, which is great as well. We even nerded out over rocks :). We also very much enjoyed his delicious homemade picnic lunch with a view of the ocean, featuring local Azores cheeses, of course. What a treat! From the coast, to the mountain lakes, to the lava cave (helmets and headlamps provided!), to the vineyards, we enjoyed the whole day. Don't hesitate to join Kevin on any of his tours!

Our tour of Pico Island with Kevin was amazing from start to finish. We explored volcanic lava tubes, visited stunning lakes surrounded by breathtaking landscapes, enjoyed a vineyard with wine tasting, and even swam in a natural pool. One of the highlights of the day was the lunch Kevin prepared for us—tuna sandwiches, fresh vegetables from his garden, a bottle of wine, and homemade chocolate mousse. It was thoughtful, fresh, and absolutely delicious. Kevin was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly throughout the entire experience. He tailored the tour to our needs, answered all of our questions, and made great conversation along the way. He even gave us excellent restaurant recommendations and took photos for us, which made the day even more special. By the end of the day, we truly felt like family.
