High above modern Bergama, ancient Pergamon preserves the remains of one of the ancient world’s leading cultural, political, and medical centers. This full-day small-group tour from Izmir explores the region’s Hellenistic, Roman, and Byzantine heritage.
Travel to Bergama in an air-conditioned vehicle. Your guide meets you at your Izmir hotel, accompanies you throughout the tour, and returns you to your hotel at the end of the day.
Visit the UNESCO-listed Acropolis, where monumental ruins reflect Pergamon’s importance as a center of government, culture, religion, and learning.
Continue to the Asklepion, its renowned ancient healing center, and learn about the medical traditions and therapeutic practices of antiquity.

Great tour with Erman!
Erman was very knowledgeable about the history and shared lots of stories with us. Our group was half Spanish-speaking half English-speaking and he flawlessly covered the tour in both languages. He was very informative about the scchedule, too. Great tour!

Super recommended!
We had a wonderful experience with this tour, led by our guide Erman. He is so deeply knowledgeable, passionate, and with such an engaging storytelling style that listening to him is a real pleasure.

Perfect Pergamum Tour
I really enjoyed it. It was a group tour but I was the only one signed up for this day and they still went ahead with the tour. I had my own driver and guide on a 15 passenger van! I was able to converse with the guide about random questions I had about Turkey. Pergamum is beautiful and way less crowded than other ancient cities. The included lunch was a fabulous home cooked meal at a hidden away complex in the country side. Of course there is a carpet presentation. I went on quite a few 1 and 2 day tours in Turkey and I felt this carpet thing was the most educational and personable out of all I listened to.
