Experience the adventure of touring the Valdes Peninsula and embarking on Whale Watching with us. On this 11-hour excursion discover the nature of the immense Valdés Peninsula, where we can be amazed thanks to the diversity of marine fauna: right whales, penguins, sea lions, orcas and much more, depending on the month of the year. In the middle of the imposing Patagonian landscape is the terrestrial fauna: guanacos, Patagonian maras, choiques, martinetas and others. Start your adventure with the search at your accommodation in Puerto Madryn. After a short tour of the city to learn about its history, we will head towards the Valdes Peninsula.
Start the adventure in the reserve in the company of a tour guide who will help us interpret the environment. Stay tuned, the Valdes Peninsula is home to unique species such as guanacos, maras (Patagonic hare), choiques (petiso rhea) and gray foxes, among others.
We head inland to the immense peninsula, linked to the continent by a strip of land known as the Ameghino Isthmus. At certain points, you can simultaneously see both the New and San Jose Gulfs, and enjoy the views of the typical Patagonian landscape. Make your first stop at the Carlos Ameghino Isthmus Visitor Center, where you can appreciate the small sample of local flora and fauna.
Continue to the picturesque village of Puerto Pirámides while enjoying the views and a brief city tour upon arrival. From June to December, you will have the opportunity to experience the one-and-a-half hour sailing to see the towering Southern Right Whale up close.
We continue to Caleta Valdés through a riverside path to marvel at the colony of Penguins of Magellan (from September to April). The exceptional value of this cove is due to its great biodiversity and the scenic beauty of the open ocean. Keep an eye on the killer whales, if you are lucky, you can spot them patrolling these coasts in packs. The next stop is Punta Cantor. Here, trails and viewpoints will allow you to observe elephant and sea lion colonies.
As we proceed along the ripio roads, the safari continues overland. Be sure to watch the horizon. Among the bushes, you can see guanacos, choiques and maras crossing the Patagonian steppe. After a day full of nature in its purest form, we returned to Puerto Madryn to leave it in your accommodation.

We went to celebrate 80 years of my mom, and it is very remarkable the patience and the predisposition of the guides regarding their age, all the wisdom they transmitted to us of the fauna and flora was terrible. The most remarkable thing is the human warmth and respect for the fauna, I would definitely hire them again

Beautiful excursion, in contact with nature, having the possibility to see very close the whales, tour the peninsula seeing other species, such as elephant seals, magellanic penguins, sea lions. With the guide’s thorough explanation, Daniel, with informative material of each species, with a friendly and warm treatment and the perfect driving of the vehicle, of Coco. It was amazing and above all very respectful of the fauna. The only thing that I feel unlucky to be there under an algae outcrop and nothing looked like when the water is crystal clear, those things should be taken into account.
We only had 1 full day in Valdez Peninsula because of flight rescheduling but Dos Oceania and Danny (our eagle-eyed driver) made sure we saw virtually every major site on the island. In addition to great stories about the development of Puerto Madryn, Valdez Peninsula, and their history, Danny showed us guanacos, maras, penguins, birds, a grey fox, hares, bird life, and more. The whale watching trip was phenomenal with very close up views and the varied scenery throughout was fantastic! Highly recommend!
