Itinerary
After recognizing the viceregal origins of the founding of the city, we will enter the patio of the Central Building of the Autonomous University of San Luis Potosí to learn about the dynamics of the religious orders in the life of Potosí society in those times of New Spain , and how the venue has evolved over time; always with an educational vocation.
This building was used to collect the contributions of the famous "Quinto Real", in addition to protecting the Gold and Silver productions of the Potosí miners. This facility is currently a cultural center administered by the Autonomous University of San Luis Potosí.
We will discover the surroundings of the Old Franciscan Convent. We will visit the Guerrero Garden, the temple of San Francisco de Asís, the Santo Entierro alley and the Plaza de Aránzazu while we describe the most notable iconography and the uses that the citizens of San Luis Potosí currently have.
We will walk from the Guerrero Garden, passing through the Former Agustino Convent and until arriving at the Plaza del Carmen where we will see the exterior of two buildings: The National Mask Museum and the Peace Theater. We will visit the interior of the Temple of San Elías and interpret the iconography of its façade, altarpiece, the altar of the seven princes and the dressing room of the Virgin of Carmen.
We will walk from Plaza del Carmen to reach the Jardín Hidalgo or Plaza de Armas. We will see the exterior of the Government Palace, the Old City Hall and the State Congress. We will interpret the façade iconography of the Metropolitan Cathedral of San Luis Potosí and the most interesting facts about its history. We will conclude our tour passing by the garden kiosk to return to Plaza Fundadores, our meeting point.

Miguel was a wonderful guide. Fun, engaging, and extremely knowledgeable about his city. Definitely do this tour if it’s your first time here
Miguel was a wonderful, extremely knowledgeable guide. He is fluent in Spanish and English and taught me so much about the history of the city, the architecture, the university, and the landscape. I would highly recommend this tour and this guide!
Wonderful tour of the historic center of San Luis Potosí. Miguel is an excellent guide. He provides a historical background for each site. I highly recommend this tour for an introduction to the city.
Miguel was an amazing host. He was so knowledgeable on Mexican and San Luis Potosi history as well as very accommodating. Highly recommended
Miguel was really good. I had my solo tour. I was the only one. Pity because it would have been nice to interact with others but he made it really good. He did it in Spanish translating in English when I needed.
My husband and I had a wonderful time learning about the amazing history of San Luis Potosi, there was so much to see and learn!! Miguel is extremely knowledgeable and made the tour extremely fun and informative. Highly recommended!!!
Miguel gave us a wonderful introduction to the city of San Luis, including history and personal touches. He was patient, engaging, knowledgeable, humorous, and very passionate about his work. Thoroughly enjoyable, highly recommended.
Absolutely terrific guide. Miguel’s stories made the tour captivating. He tailored our speed so everyone stayed interested and could keep up. We saw so many special places, understand the community better and had fun. Highly recommend.
On time, enjoyable and does not cancel if there are just two of you like some others. He was very slow moving from one area to another so that would be my suggestion for slight improvement. Standing is very hard for seniors, movement is actually better and keeps photographers more engaged. I would recommend this first day you arrive in the city. I learned a lot, thank you.
Migel was a fantastic tour guide, he showed us his city of San Luis Potosi with great passion and knowledge. I highly recommend this tour and Migel.
