Paris Local Market & Bastille District Food Tasting Tour

Description
Follow the scent of buttery croissants and the buzz of local chatter into one of Paris’s best-kept secrets: the legendary Marché d’Aligre. Nestled in the shadow of Bastille, this is where real Parisians start their day, with strong espresso, a flaky pastry, and an opinion about cheese. On this immersive morning tour, a fun local foodie will lead you through open-air chaos, covered market treasures, and historic backstreets. You’ll taste artisan cheeses, sip boutique wine by old wine barrels, meet passionate vendors, and see why this market is the loudest, tastiest, and most beloved in the city. Come hungry. Come curious. And maybe cancel lunch plans.

What a wonderful experience! So glad we chose this tour. Our guide was perfect. Her English was so much better than our French and her knowledge of the stops and samples was excellent. She paced herself to my handicapped-with-a-rollator speed. She was very knowledgeable about her subject but also interested in us and clearly enjoyed her job. The market was delightful but there was so much more. The tour covered all the famous French delicacies and even ended up at a flea market which was so interesting.
This tour was wonderful!!! Dorine was detailed, informative and very respectful. We enjoyed it very much.
Seeing the area through the eyes of a local! Doreine was wonderful. Highly recommend her tours! Bastille neighborhood feels real, not touristy.
Dorine was a superb and knowledgeable guide and we were fortunate to be part of a group of only one other couple which made the experience easy and intimate. The venues visited were of a really high standard snd the food and drink delicious! Highly recommended!
I have lived in this neighborhood near the market for 20 years now. One : - to pay 75€ a head and 70€ for children is pure unethical behaviour IMO. Two : - as a resident and an American many of these guides are telling misleading or incorrect information. I often have pointed this out Three : - the covered market is NOT a museum. Many people do not buy anything. If you back in the US for instance ran out to 7/11 because you forgot butter during lunch and instead of being able to get to the dairy section you were blocked by thirty people standing in front of the products, making them totally inaccessible, well how would you feel? I think as part of local government, sadly we will have to restrict access to tourists to this covered market, at least as Venise has done or recently Kyoto. Tourism yes, but respect for the residents.
We had a wonderful time. Our guide Garance was lovely and took great care of us! We tasted so many things and saw Bastille area as we walked. Our group was great and we shared fun conversation together as well. Relaxed and fun!
What an absolutely amazing food tour! Highly recommended! We ate until we popped! Our guide brought us through the bastille district and we got to try some amazing food!
We had a fantastic time exploring the markets of Bastille and sampling croissant, coffee, cheese, wine and sausages. The highlight was the guide Arthur who was very knowledgeable & easygoing as well as the configure tasting who thought cherry & Kalamata olives would be so good! Highly recommend this food tasting tour.
Wonderful tour with Arthur. My friend and I enjoyed visiting the oldest market in Paris and wandering off the beaten path. We truly visited establishments for locals. I recommend this if you want to see more of the local foodie scene.
Very informative tour. A nice look into how Parisians live in Paris. Beautiful small streets with wonderful shops. We were able to taste cheeses, wines, croissants, chocolate and more. Would recommend!
