Ciara (our guide) and Orlando (the driver) were fantastic! Ciara is very knowledgeable as she knows her country’s history. She also was able to find us a couple of sloths to view as they relaxed in a tree! Lastly, get the option that includes the Panama Canal. The movie, which I thought that I didn’t want to see, was awesome!
It was a great experience. Our tour guide Belcko was very knowledgeable, engaged, and nice. Belcko spoke English and Spanish to accommodate everyone on the tour.
The hotel booked us on a private tour, got us a guide and driver who spent the day with us, taking us to the canal and then to casco Viejo, the trip was excellent, not enough superlatives to describe. I forgot the driver/guides name but he had a small scar on his face. professional ,informed, experienced. The canal experience is first class, I would definitively recommend it. Casco Viejo was lovely, Its worth spending the day there taking in the sights and sounds ,architecture, small shops and restaurants. very reminiscent of Old San Juan in Puerto Rico. A great overall experience which i would book again.
Overall, the tour was fine until the very end. When we arrived at the Panama Canal, the guide instructed us to watch the live demonstration, attend the 4 p.m. movie, and then return to the parking lot at 5 p.m. to head back. The plan seemed clear and well-organized. I watched the demonstration briefly, then left a bit early to make the 4 p.m. movie. I returned to the van around 4:55 p.m. and found no one there. After a few minutes, two other guests arrived, but by 5:15 p.m., the guide and the rest of the group were still missing. Around 5:20 p.m., the guide finally returned and explained that due to delays in the demonstration, he had told others to stay and attend the 5 p.m. movie instead. He said he was unable to find us to communicate this change. This is where the experience fell short. When leading a group, a guide should not change plans unless they can clearly communicate those changes to everyone. As a result of this miscommunication, I ended up waiting in the van for over an hour, which also delayed our return to the city. I contacted the company to share my experience and requested a partial refund for this portion of the tour. Unfortunately, they declined and instead offered a discount on a future tour, which I do not plan to use. Since I was only in Panama for two days, my time was extremely valuable. Spending a significant amount of it waiting due to poor communication was frustrating and ultimately made this part of the tour feel like a waste of time.
This was a great tour, with good information about the canal. We were very lucky to arrive right as a ship was going through. The IMAX is awesome. Our tour guide Luis was fantastic!
The guide was very knowledgeable and took his tine to explain things and answer all of our questions.
This tour was a perfect fit for me. Got to see the Panama Canal and its visitor center and IMAX documentary, as well as visiting the old downtown district. 7:10 am at my hotel, returned about noon. Our guide was great. Very knowledgeable, excellent explanations of everything we wanted to know and things we didn’t know to ask.
Our tour guide Belcko, was very knowledgeable, patient, & friendly fun. I learned so much about panamá city. He explained the history of how panamá was before & after the evolution that is now not only using words but illustrations. During the canal visit center he didn't just leave us to explore, he stayed with the group guiding & explaining everything that was going on. My family and I had a wonderful experience getting to know panamá city & its wonders. Definitely recommend to anyone who's a first visit.
Our family had an absolutely fantastic experience visiting the Panama Canal, and our tour guide Gorge made the day truly unforgettable. From the moment the tour began, he was knowledgeable, professional, and incredibly engaging. He explained the fascinating history, engineering, and operation of the canal in a way that was easy to understand and enjoyable for both adults and children. His passion for Panama and its history was evident throughout the tour. He patiently answered all of our questions, shared interesting facts and local insights, and ensured that everyone in our group felt included and comfortable. The timing of the tour was perfect, allowing us to witness ships passing through the locks while learning about one of the world’s greatest engineering achievements. What stood out most was his warm personality and genuine care for his guests. He went above and beyond to make sure our family had a memorable experience, helping with photos, recommending local attractions, and making the entire day seamless and enjoyable. We highly recommend this tour and especially our guide to anyone visiting Panama. Thanks to him, our visit to the Panama Canal was not only educational but also one of the highlights of our trip.
If you are a lover of history, you need to go to the Panama Canal if you visit Panama. The movie explaining how it was constructed is very informative but actually seeing ships pass through the canal is magical. Same with the Old City, while there are modern restaurants of all types and coffee shops, the original structures are well maintained so you feel like you are walking in a time capsule. Make sure and visit the street of hats, do a tour of one of the churches (leave a donation if you can, it really helps them maintain the church) and have a cup of coffee.
