Traveled w/my husband and this was our first ever luau, and time in Hawaii. It was great. Felt very welcomed. Loved the story telling and dancing. Received a Lei, Lei bracelet, and tattoo. Food was great. There was laughter and just overall a great time.
We were really looking forward to this luau, especially since we paid extra for VIP seating, but unfortunately it was very disappointing. The food selection was extremely limited for anyone who doesn’t eat meat and only eats fish. There was just one fish option, and it wasn’t very good. The salad was essentially plain spring mix with only a few pieces of cucumber and tomato, and even the rice contained pork and chicken. The other three in our group who do eat meat, were also not impressed with the food. We also paid for VIP seats expecting a better view of the show, but my view of the stage was partially blocked by one of the structural posts. For the additional cost of VIP seating, that was particularly frustrating. The show itself was also quite short. I’ve attended other luaus and was expecting a much more immersive Hawaiian experience, so this one fell well short of expectations. If you’re traveling to Oʻahu and looking for a luau, I would recommend finding one on the beach that offers the traditional pig roasting and a more complete luau experience. There are much better ways to experience this special Hawaiian tradition.
Thank you for the detailed review. We're sorry the evening fell short of expectations, particularly with the dining experience and your VIP seating. VIP is the seating section nearest the stage plus it includes beverages, and we regret that your view was partially obstructed. We also appreciate your comments on the menu and will consider that for future improvements. Paina is designed as a more intimate cultural experience and one of the best in Waikiki, with storytelling, mele, hula, and a fire knife finale. We know guests have different expectations of a luau, and we appreciate you sharing your perspective. Mahalo, The Paina Waikiki Luau Team
I think there are better luaus on the island. It was just okay. They also don’t have signs for where to go. It’s on the third floor of a hotel.
Aloha, thank you for sharing your honest feedback. We're sorry the Paina experience didn't live up to what you had hoped for, and we appreciate you pointing out the difficulty finding the luau. Clear directions are important, especially when guests are arriving for the first time, and we'll keep your comment in mind as we look for ways to make the arrival experience easier. We hope you'll give us another chance to show you a more memorable evening next time you're on island. Mahalo, The Paina Waikiki Luau Team
Very entertaining. Food was great.Staff was very friendly and service was great. Bucket item crossed off.
This luau experience was so great. Food wonderful. Drinks Mmmmm. I love that we got a Lei. The show was so good. Highly recommend
My children enjoyed the show. Would definitely recommend.
This was an excellent performance. The location is convenient and the food was delicious and plentiful. The included drinks were served right away and any extras were easy to order. We were a group of 14, ranging in age from 11 to 75. Everyone enjoyed the show, especially when they pulled out some audience members at the end to participate. Everyone who did it was a great sport and if someone really didn’t want to go up, they didn’t make them. What a fun way to end the show.
Aloha, and mahalo for sharing this wonderful review! We're so glad your group had such a memorable evening. It's great to hear the food, drinks, and audience participation all added to the experience. Being an easy walk from hotels across Waikiki makes Paina especially convenient for bringing the whole group together for an evening under the stars.. We appreciate your support and hope to welcome you back for another fun-filled night in the future. Mahalo, The Paina Waikiki Luau Team
Very hospital and kind staff, engaging and proud show depicting the beautiful cultures.
Food was horrible! Definitely not worth the price! Looking to drink adult beverages...they served bar brand cocktails for VIP prices. The dancing and fire show was good. But overall over priced!
Aloha, thank you for the candid feedback. We're glad you enjoyed the dancing and fire knife finale, though we're sorry the food and drinks fell short of expectations. We want the dining experience to match the quality of the entertainment, and many guests rave about the quality and strength of our cocktails. While it's disappointing to hear we came up short this time, we appreciate you sharing your thoughts as we continue to hone the experience. Mahalo, The Paina Waikiki Luau Team
Everything is well organized. Get the VIP I’m in front of stage. Food is great. You will get 3 drinks but for me the waiter is nice so I got more than 3
