Itinerary
Explore the archaeological site of Paestum, the best-preserved Graeco-Roman city, on a two-hour walking tour with a licensed archaeological guide.
The Temple of Hera II in Paestum (formerly Poseidonia), is earlier and is still often referred to as the 'Temple of Poseidon' or 'Temple of Neptunus' due to a misidentification. This temple is the more northern and recent of the two Hera temples in Paestum.
The Temple of Athena, also known as the Temple of Ceres (c. 500 BC), is a Greek temple located in Paestum, situated near the so-called Basilica, which is considerably larger than it.
Explore the captivating National Archaeological Museum, home to a rich collection of local Greek artworks dating back to the 7th century BC. The unquestionable highlight of the museum in Paestum are the frescoes found in the 'Tomb of the Diver'.

This was an amzing tour, and covered so much history that I was unfamiliar with up until this experience. The guide was excellent at giving and answering questions that we had.
We participated in this very interesting tour where the added value was the presence of our guide Mr. Mario, who is very knowledgeable, cultured, puts passion into this work, and transmits his knowledge with great empathy and professionalism! Thanks again Simona, Beatrice and Gianmaria
It was one of the best moments of the whole trip to the Coast. Tour absolutely recommended, thanks above all to the very high competence, friendliness, and availability of the archaeologist Mario!
Mario is very good and he conveyed his passion for this splendid place and for archaeology and history to us.
The guide, Silvia, is exceptional. She explains everything perfectly and is extremely kind. It has been a pleasure to share these hours with her.
Very knowledgeable guide (Mario from Askos Tour) who, with patience, was able to explain and tell stories without ever being boring. The fact that the group was small allowed everyone to interact with the guide, adding interest for the other participants as well, without losing any quality in the visit, quite the contrary.
Have done a few tours over the years some great some not so much- this one was completely no hassle and great Mario was an excellent guide and really just fantastic. I highly recommend the tour with him, if hadn’t been a million degrees I am sure all of us would have been more chatty but its summer.
Extremely insightful and enjoyable tour of Paestum, an important archaeological site that must be experienced !
Mario, with his expertise and excellent presentation skills, made the tour enjoyable despite the unbearable heat. He guided us through the history of Paestum, answering all our questions and curiosities while paying attention to the needs of every member of the group. It was a stroke of luck to meet him: a bit like the one that allowed Paestum to reach us. An experience I would repeat tomorrow.
Very well done, Mario. Maximum culture and experience
