Outdoor Traditional Cooking Class in Mauritius
Description
This experience invites guests to share a moment of Mauritian family life in a peaceful rural sugarcane village in the north of the island, near an old historic sugar mill. The workshop takes place in our traditional outdoor family kitchen beside a small farm, surrounded by nature and the rhythms of village life. Together we prepare a full Mauritian meal using fresh, local and seasonal ingredients, sometimes cooking over a wood fire as many families still do. Guests participate in the cooking before we sit down to enjoy the dishes in a relaxed and convivial atmosphere. Sometimes members of my family are present, adding to the warm and authentic spirit of sharing food, stories, and traditions around the table.

Aurelie first took us to the market where we picked out the vegetables for the dishes to be cooked. Afterwards, the driver took us to her parents' house. Everything was already prepared in the garden and we made 3 dishes and roti together. Along the way, Aurelie gave us an insight into the life of a typical family in Mauritius. We had a really enjoyable time with Aurélie learning all about Mauritian cuisine and culture. She taught us how to prep and cook the ingredients step by step then we sat down for lunch and enjoyed the delicious food we had prepared. The outdoor setting was great and we loved the hands-on experience. Aurélie Is very patient and a skilled cook. Highly recommended for all ages and all levels of cooking ability.

Excellent activity to do to discover Mauritian family gastronomy. Elodie is adorable. She teaches us how to cook like the grandmothers on the island used to. She shares her tips, her know-how. She also shares information about the traditions and the lifestyle of the Mauritians. We didn't see the time pass and we really enjoyed ourselves.
