You will visit every part of the church, with a special focus on the beautiful San Brizio chapel, decorated by the reinassance artist Luca Signorelli. His frescoes are considered one of the most sensational works of art in Italy.

A beautiful walk in the heart of Orvieto will take you to the underground area of “Pozzo della Cava” where you will discover the hidden part of the city. These tunnels have been escavated during more than 23 centuries by the inhabitants of the area. Here your guide will explain you how the rooms were used during the history and you will look down inside the impressive 36 meters deep etruscan well.

Once you finished the underground tour, you will walk to the edge of the city; from the top of the cliffs you will admire stunning views on the rolling hills covered with vineyards and olive trees. Walking along the ancient walls of Orvieto you will enjoy many points of view on the countryside and the brown coloured medieval town.
A short walk throug pictoresque little alleys will take you back to Piazza Duomo, ending point of the tour.

Our tour guide Emmanuela...
Our tour guide Emmanuela a/k/a Emma was fabulous! She was so engaging and very interesting. She took the time to describe in precise detail the history of the Duomo and significance of the scenes depicted by the architect and the various artists whose work is displayed there. The tour of the caves was fascinating. We learned so much about the Etruscan ingenuity and their craftsmanship. The tour was amazing and I highly recommend it since the information we gained is beyond what one could learn from the available literature.

Great lifelong resident as a guide
Orvieto and especially the cathedral are must sees. This tour was great. The guide was a lifelong resident and very knowledgeable. We appreciated her very much. The only problem is parking and guidance that the lots are full so you don’t waste so much time having to go back down the hill for a spot. Again our guide was very nice and wonderful.

Love Viator
Giordano Conticelli was a fabulous guide. His knowledge and passion of Orvieto cathedral was amazing. It was by far our favorite tour experience in Tuscany. I would highly recommend it. We took several other Viator tours that week and ALL were very good!!

A “must do tour”
A lovely time getting to know the history and details of the cathedral inside and out - the area around Orvieto and the caves. Time and money well spent . Most informative tour
Our guide Furio was incredible! He was a master of studies in both art history and architecture. He answered any and all questions we had, and was so personable. His English was perfect. We have been on hundreds of tours and Furio is by far the best guide we have ever had.
