Walkative Tour of Old Poznan

First of all, Poznan is a beautiful city with a fascinating history and super friendly people. After a day of exploring on our own, we decided to do a Walkative- Welcome to Poznan! 2 hour walking tour. Małgorzata was our guide. She is a Poznan native with a passion for history and she is enthusiastic about showing us some of the key highlights in Old Town-from the Royal Castle, through the town square (where she timed it perfectly so we could see the fighting goats), to the stunning parish church and finally, to Chopin Park, Małgorzata had interesting facts and personal insights to share all along the way. Great tour and awesome guide!

A bit disappointing

We didn't walk very far, just around the square really. Tomasz was very nice but we had some difficulty with his English and what the story was... the church was magnificent.

Operator response

Thank you for your feedback. We’re glad you enjoyed the church and found Tomasz kind and welcoming, though we’re sorry the tour route and clarity didn’t fully meet your expectations. We appreciate your comments and will use them to improve both our storytelling and communication.

Great idea, unfortunately not quite as successful here

Since we had already had 2 wonderful pen tours with walkatives behind us, we were also looking forward to these in Poznan. Tom tried very hard, but his English was a bit bulky and despite a very large group, he sometimes spoke very softly. We had a hard time following him in the meantime, he seemed a bit confused. Nevertheless, of course we tried to concentrate on the tour. We've had better ones.

Operator response

Provides additional insights on top of what can be found in travel guides.

The tour covered relevant sights and the guide provided some details that are probably not commonly known. The experience would have been better if the guide's mic/speaker gear hadn't had issues and his english had been a bit more fluent.

Great walking tour!

I had a fantastic tour with Susan! She did a great job sharing the history and current happenings of the town. Perfect timing to also catch the goats at the clock tower. She was very clear with great English. Highly recommend!!

Excellent walking tour.

Justine was excellent! I loved the tour and how much extra she added. I will always remember the story of her grandmother.

A poor tour but better than walking around the old town on your own

Better than nothing as I learnt things I didn't know and went to places I would not have done on my own, but this was a bad example of a free walking tour. There was no narrative - just different explanations of various things at different points, and no attempt to make you understand life in the old time in Poznan throughout the centuries. Far too many dates and names - it was like a disjointed and ill-planned history lesson, focusing on many centuries ago. Lots was assumed by the guide; I happened to learn about the partitions of Poland at school in the UK but most people on the tour would not have known about them and so would have heen baffled when reference to them was casually thrown in with no explanation. There was no attempt to make this fun or interesting - I've done many free walking tours and the best of them can be brilliant - Manchester UK and Sarajevo Bosnia Herzegovina stand out as particularly fine examples - but this was not one of them. Poznan does not seem blessed with free walking tours. It's a shame as a good one would be a wonderful asset to this beautiful, fascinating and friendly city.

Alessandra explanation was great. She speaks truly by hearth about her city and this is something you can feel all the time while she shows you the downtown

Information and interesting Tour of the beautiful Poznan

A very informative, interesting young lady. A must to do to appreciate the beautiful Poznan. The trip met in the Freedom Square, taking in the castle and the Old Town, with a view of the goats at 12pm!
