A Great Night with Great Stories.
We decided to do the Hangman's Tour of the Gaol, which was at night. As we went through the Gaol a few years ago, we thought it would have a different feel at night. We were met by Mark who was our guide and story telling for the next hour. Mark took on the name of a previous hangman who worked in the Gaol for over thirty years when it was operational between 1845 and 1924. Mark was talking as we were living back in that moment and spoke about the lives of the criminals and what took place during the hangings. This was a highlight and we also were given a history lesson included in the price.
