This is a very detailed tour of significant buildings and architectural history of chiefly upscale residential properties and the history of Catalan families in Barcelona. Though there were 2 tapas and “beer” stops, this is a lecture tour and definitely not a party atmosphere. In that context it is definitely worth your time but it involves a lot of prolonged standing and listening I do recommend the guide Montse for her cordial demeanor and extensive art history and architectural knowledge
Montse was our guide, she was fun, knowledgeable and a great guide. We had a great time and the food was awesome.
Montse was an amazing guide! She was so knowledgeable about everything and you can tell she really loved what she was teaching us! All of the food was out of this world, and worked with many food allergies. I can not recommend this enough!
Montse was very punctual and started the tour with a bit of history of architecture and style in the Modernist area. She also told us about the creation of the downtown. We walked about five blocks, ducking into a couple of beautiful buildings to see architectural details and beautiful tile work. Our first tapas place was an authentic bar, serving tapas since the 1950s (I think.) we had patatas bravas, jamon, fried cuttlefish, caramelized cheese, pan con tomate, bistec, and sangria. We enjoyed all the tapas except cuttlefish, which was just not our thing. We then walked a bit further to see Gaudi’s buildings on the Rambla, where Montse talked about all the features and inspiration. Then we went to a delicious place for dinner tapas. We ordered jamon with pineapple, steak tartar, bimi with mushrooms, pear with fontina and candied walnuts. We also got a couple of desserts, including bombi torrija, which was unbelievable. Montse was great, as was the dining experience.
It was a pleasure to be guided by Montse who is a local Catalan with a rich knowledge and passion about the area. The tour involved a good balance of food, drinks, walking and knowledge sharing. Montse showed us some secret spots only a local would know about and was personable, patient and treated us like a friend. This tour will take you to places you would never know about unless you're a passionate local. You will also leave satisfied from the variety of tapas and drinks provided.
Montse was very helpful in giving us advice on where to go! the tour was lovely
My friend and I had a great experience walking the streets of Barcelona and getting incredible insight on the architecture and history of the city. Montse was our guide and she was funny, knowledgeable, and very kind. We really enjoyed it.
We had a fantastic tapas walking tour in the Eixample district of Barcelona and it ended up being one of the highlights of our visit. The tour started with a wonderful meal featuring a selection of traditional Catalan tapas—many of which we had never tried before. It was a great introduction to the local cuisine and a relaxed way to begin the evening. From there we set out on a walking tour through the Eixample neighborhood, learning about the incredible legacy of Barcelona’s modernist architects. Our guide brought the architecture to life with fascinating stories and historical context. We stopped in front of numerous private homes designed by different architects, and the explanations of the design details, symbolism, and craftsmanship made us appreciate the buildings in a whole new way. What really made the experience stand out was our guide Montse. She was energetic, engaging, and incredibly knowledgeable. Her passion for the architecture and the history of Barcelona was contagious, and she made the entire evening both educational and fun. If you want an experience that combines great food, beautiful architecture, and rich history, this tour is absolutely worth doing. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Barcelona.
This was a highlight of our trip! A wine and tapas tour that included an in-depth education about Catalonian food and culture and an immersion into the rich architectural history of Barcelona. Montse's knowledge and experience is extensive. The evening over-exceeded our expectations!! She is a gem. Thank you so much.
Stephanie was great. We had an awsome time. Alot of walking but she made sure everyone was OK. Very informative. The cat bar in the end of the tour was amazing as was the rest of the tour.
