An interesting experience. Most of the works are of a religious nature, but also some modern art really worth the visit.

The Unterlinden Museum, famous for its masterpiece, The Altarpiece of Issenheim, officially opened in 1853. Today, the Unterlinden Museum offers its many visitors dialogue and knowledge, emotion and pleasure. It offers a tour route covering nearly 7000 years of history, from prehistory to 21st century art. This journey through time allows us to discover the many facets of the museum’s architecture, unified and magnified by the redevelopment and extension of the architects Herzog & de Meuron completed in 2015. By browsing the rooms of the former 13th century convent, the former municipal baths inaugurated in 1906 and the contemporary spaces built in 2015 as well as the museum’s collections, visitors can see the successive stages of a history of more than 170 years. The walls and works are testimony to the dynamic work of the Schongauer Society, an association that has managed and administered the Unterlinden Museum since 1853.

An interesting experience. Most of the works are of a religious nature, but also some modern art really worth the visit.
Very beautiful museum located right across from the Colmar tourist office and presenting varied works in large rooms and even with some seats to be able to take the time to enjoy them: the famous Isenheim Altarpiece but also paintings or sculptures by great artists from past centuries, for a fairly eclectic and interesting content.
A very special museum in a beautiful building. Besides a lot of old art, there is also modern art from Picasso to Manet and everything in between. Then there is a very special archaeological exhibition with many special finds. The way of presenting is very didactic and interesting for both adults and children.
Very beautiful museum, rich in works, but as always, it is better to get the audio guide!! Of course, the centerpiece: the Isenheim Altarpiece is well highlighted, what a beautiful setting for this masterful work... Don't forget to take the map because it's a bit of a labyrinth and set aside at least 3 hours. I recommend this museum
Beautiful museum with a very extensive exhibition from different eras
Beautiful private non-profit museum. The highlight is the Isenheim Altarpiece. Many wood panels. Access to 2 buildings via an underground passage. It was a great discovery.
Very beautiful museum with an interesting modern art section.
The museum building, interior design, collection and especially the Issenheim altar piece was lovely, absolutely worth visiting Colmar if only for this. The cafe is in a lovely courtyard with an inside area. It was a very hot day for our visit and one of us was feeling quite physically unwell, exacerbated by the heat and really needed a simple bite to eat. The cafe staff flately refused to serve any food unless we sat outside in the hot courtyard because there was only one person serving. There was absolutely zero understanding or compassion. Utterly incomprehensible.
The Unterlinden is the museum to go to in Colmar. We got the discounted tickets to visit during the last hour before closing, which felt like enough time to see the highlights.
Isenheim Altar: The picture panels are presented very beautifully. Not too crowded around noon, time for a long contemplation of the individual panels. The painting collection - less captivating.
