Head to the mystic mountain of Montserrat. This natural park, with its very peculiar peaks, protects the spiritual essence of Catalonia. For almost 1,000 years, a Benedictine community has lived in these mountains located 60 km away from Barcelona. On the way, listen to some interesting stories about Catalonia and its bounding to the holy mountain, scene of pilgrims since ancient times and part of the route to Santiago de Compostela. Your guide will share important information to understand the heritage you will discover during the tour.
The Rocky Massif of Montserrat has been declared as Natural Park in 1987, and characterised by the rounded shape of its peaks. This incredible 4000-foot wonder is easily recognisable by its ''serrated'' top from which it got his name. Once you reach the monastery, you have plenty of options and your guide will always adjust to your interests. We invite you to take an easy walk of around 30 min to enjoy one of the most astonishing views of the natural park, but if you wish you can also decide to enjoy other activities that the mountain offers.
Visit the Basilica of Montserrat, house of the serene image of the Virgin of Montserrat, the patron saint of Catalonia, a polychrome Romanesque carving dating from the 12th century. The legend says that in the year 880 some shepherd boys found a statue of the black madonna, the "Moreneta", in a grotto. A chapel was built on this site that soon became a place of pilgrimage.
Reach the peak of the holy mountain to enjoy a bird's eye view of the entire Montserrat Monastery and of the natural park. On clear days, you will enjoy uninterrupted views of the whole of Catalunya.
Since the funicular that brings you to this holy place is under revision, we leave the option to you. If you feel like walking for around 30 min, you can have access to the Holy Cave, where, standing to the legend, the virgin is said to have appeared. The site has, since then, become an authentic center for pilgrimage and prayer. From there, you will also be able to see the Cross of San Miguel and the wonderful views from this side of the mountain.

Took the private tour to Monserrat with Liana it was amazing. The pickup and drop off was seamless and on-time.Her presentation to pull all things together was complete precise and more than interesting. She also gave us plenty of time for ourselves to look around and hit the shops! I highly recommend this tour!!!

We booked a family tour to Monserrat. Our guide, Isabel, contacted us prior to our departure and went over all the different things to do. Isabel began to tailor our day with what was most important to us. Our driver and Isabel were on time and even provided a carseat. On the way Isabel shared some Spanish history and answered all our questions. Once at Monserrat we were able to see and do everything that we wanted to. It was an amazing place and we were able to do everything we set out to do. We are grateful for our experience and for having Isabel to show is around.
