It was a great trip. We had a stop during the long drive. Arriving at Mont Saint Michel was good. You get a few hours to walk around by yourself. It was a memorable trip.
Despite the early start, Soyoung was cheerful and friendly and helpful. She got us sorted with our stickers and on the bus. She was VERY clear that we needed to be back at the bus at 16:15…and reminded us several times. She provided fun and interesting trivia and tidbits along the journey, kept us apprised of rest breaks and ETA’s and was genuinely and wonderful guide/hostess. Would highly recommend any tour she leads.
It was an early morning gathering, but there were many tour users in front of the hotel, which shows how popular it is. There were many participants from Japan. The bus ride was nearly 5 hours, but we were able to take a break about 2 1/2 hours after departure, and we were able to use the toilet and shop. Before departure, there are also free public toilets around if you are concerned (there was an automatic flushing type, but all but the toilet bowl was fairly dirty). Basically, the guide was in English, but this time it was Seoyoung-san from Korea, who also handled reception and other matters in Japanese. It was very bright and friendly and fun. Mont Saint-Michel was very crowded and I was glad to be able to shortcut the line thanks to the advance ticket to visit the monastery on the bus. There is a shuttle bus, but if you don't use it well, you may not be able to make it back to the meeting time. We had plenty of free time, but no time to eat. If you are not particular about it, you can take snacks with you. It was the only gelato I ate, but for only €3 it was rich, hearty and I was able to get over the journey to the monastery.
It was an amazing visit. SOYOUNG was very knowledgeable and prepared for this visit. We made a few stops by the shade because of the heat. Totally recommend her.
Soyoung was an excellent guide, very well knowledged about Mount St. Michel and always checking in that we were having a good experience, would recommend!
Beautiful trip, Mont Saint Michel is definitely worth to visit. However I would suggest earlier hours to avoid crowds, I think we could leave Paris earlier to be in MSM earlier without such crowds. Also trip could be 1 hour longer to not run to see everything. But drivers and guides are very nice and kind. Travel by bus was also nice.
I thought we should give ourselves quite some time to get home. It's good to see you.
The guided tour was amazing. It helped cut down our waiting time and included great explanations of things like the architectural styles.
He was a lovely and cheerful guide and his English was slow and easy to hear, so it was a fun trip. At the rest area along the way, we could buy snacks and drinks, and the long-distance bus was relatively comfortable. One thing is, it was a busy period in mid-August, so there were really many people, and I felt it was OK to have advice on time management. The free shuttle bus to Mont Saint-Michel was very long in line and could not be used due to the length of stay, so we had to walk 40 minutes each way to the island entrance and back. The island was also very crowded and we couldn't walk as much as we wanted, so we scurried around the monastery and managed to make it to the bus departure time. It was very helpful for me to be advised on the outbound bus that eating lunch at a restaurant and sightseeing around the island was difficult at the time of year.
I was overwhelmed by what I had never seen before. It was fun!!!
