Description
Most visitors to Mexico City eat tacos that were designed for tourists. Bright signs, long lines, and the same places everyone on Instagram already knows.
This tour is about the tacos locals actually talk about.
We walk through Condesa tasting your way across some of the city’s most iconic taco styles: pastor shaved straight from the trompo, tacos de canasta that have fueled the city for generations, rich slow cooked barbacoa, perfectly grilled picaña, and seafood tacos that completely change the way people think about tacos.
Along the way you will hear the stories behind the food, learn how taco culture became the heartbeat of Mexico City, and experience the kind of places people only discover after living here.
These are the tacos people remember when the trip is over, the kind that make you start planning your next visit before you even leave the city.

Mexico City Taco Tour Hidden Taquerías with a Local
Itinerary
10 min
We begin near Parque México in the heart of Condesa with a quick introduction to Mexico City's taco culture before heading to the first stop. Mexico City has thousands of taquerías, but locals know the best tacos often live in the most unexpected places. This tour is about finding those.
Condesa
120 min
Our first taco introduces one of the most famous flavors in the city: al pastor. Pork slowly spins on a vertical trompo, caramelizing as it cooks. The meat is shaved directly onto a tortilla and topped with pineapple, onion, and salsa. You'll also try a gringa, a local favorite that melts cheese and pastor together in a way that makes people instantly understand why Mexico City takes tacos so seriously.st
Roma Norte
30 min
We finish the tour with seafood tacos and mezcal, bringing a fresh and vibrant ending to the experience. Bright citrus, ocean flavors, and a final toast of mezcal make the perfect way to wrap up the night.

Places you wouldn’t find on your own
Wowwww if you do anything in Mexico… (even if you have 24 hours) Please do this. Josh is the best tour guide. It’s like being with a bestie that wants you to experience the most authentic Mexico. You try different foods from different parts of the country. Learn about the history of how the food is made. We went to so many different places and he really loves taking care of people. Hands down will recommend this to anyone visiting or even living full time in Mexico City. We laughed so much and had a good time trying food we never would have found on our own. He loves sharing his Mexican and you feel his desire to share culture with visitors. Can’t say enough good things about Josh. If you are considering a tour guide please choose him. Also really important to me you will be contributing to locally owned places.
Also he found places that had a variety including gluten free (corn tacos) and different meats so if you don’t eat pork not to worry

A fun taco time
Josh does a great tour. He is very friendly and knowledgeable about the city and food. Most importantly, you get some great tacos along the way. You hit several spots without walking too far. And you get to end with a nice drink too.

A great taco time!
I had a great experience on this tour. Josh was super friendly and full of Taco knowledge. The tour hit some taco spots you would not go to on your own. And you get plenty of diverse tacos to try, including one spot I had to go back to on my last day in town because the tacos were so good.

Amazing Time!!
Josh was amazing!!! The stops were incredible and he provided so much insight into the items at each. He is fantastic and our group would gladly do this tour a million times. He was so knowledgeable of the food, found local hidden gems, and was so considerate of any food allergies/preferences. 10/10!!!

Thanks so much for this review! Your group brought such great energy to the tour, which made the entire route a ton of fun to lead. With a bigger group, dialing in the pacing and navigating different food boundaries is huge for me so everyone stays energized and gets to taste each bite the way it was truly intended. Getting to share those neighborhood spots and the people behind them was an absolute highlight. Can not wait to see you guys again before your trip wraps up!

Highlight of Mexico City Trip!
Best thing we did in Mexico City!! Josh took us to taco spots in Condesa I'd walked right past a dozen times, knew exactly what to order at each one, and even worked in a detour for snacks. The tacos were SO GOOD they literally brought tears to our eyes. He tailored the whole night to us - as many tacos as we wanted, but paced so we'd make it to the end - and didn't rush us at all when the tour went a little over. We also had incredible juice pairings and learned a ton about the history of food and culture in Mexico City. 11/10 - just book it :)

Reading this made my day, thank you so much! Pacing a night of eating so you can actually enjoy every stop without hitting a wall is everything on a taco tour, so I am stoked the flow and that bonus snack detour worked out so well. Condesa has so many incredible spots hiding in plain sight, and sharing those flavors and juice pairings with folks who appreciate the food culture is why I run Provecho Taco Tours. Never want to rush good food and great company. Next time you make it back to Mexico City, definitely look me up for round two!

Come for the Great Tacos and Love Experiencing Condesa
We absolutely loved our taco tour through Condesa's tree-lined streets. Josh took us to taco spots we never would have found on our own, and we felt like we were getting something more, a very unique and real taste of Mexico City.
The tacos were fantastic, but what really made the afternoon special was Josh. He’s warm, curious, incredibly knowledgeable, and clearly loves sharing the food and how to experience this neighborhood's culinary treats. Nothing felt scripted, and we didn't feel rushed. It felt more like spending a few hours with a friend who knows exactly where to eat.
We came away very full, very happy, and with a much deeper appreciation for the food and culture of Mexico City.
If you want to indulge in great tacos with a personal guide, this tour will deliver a wonderful and meaningful experience.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a generous review! Showing you around Condesa and sharing those under-the-radar spots was a ton of fun. I never want anything to feel rushed or rehearsed, so getting to take our time, talk through the history, and just enjoy great tacos together is the best part of doing this. Really glad the route hit the mark for you both. Hope to see you back in CDMX for another food walk down the road!

Taco Extravaganza with knowledgeable local host
We loved our afternoon with Josh tasting tacos and learning about Condessa, Mexico City and of course tacos! We visited 5 places, each with different specialties. Josh encouraged us to try everything so we had some unique beverages as well. He was a charming host full of knowledge about the food scene in CDMX and the history. All the tacos were delicious and we left with a list of additional places to sample tacos outside the tour. He also showed us additional specialty shops in the neighborhood. Josh is a wealth of knowledge and you can tell he loves sharing it with others. We will do other tours with Provencho Tours for sure. It is also a good value for the price.
Operator response
Really appreciate the review! It was an awesome afternoon walking around Condesa with you both. Getting to share the history of the area and introduce people to places they might walk right past is why I love doing this, so I am stoked you enjoyed the route and all the food. Hope you got to check off a few more taco spots from that list before you left town. Would love to have you guys on another tour next time you are in CDMX.
