Melanin Miami: Black History Tour (w/ food)

What an amazing experience this was! From beginning to end, we were thoroughly satisfied. Keymia has a wealth of knowledge and is such a fun, engaging guide to experience this with. The Melanin Miami Experience was so much more than a tour—it was an opportunity to learn, reflect, and connect with the rich history of Black Miami. Every stop had a story, and Keymia did an incredible job bringing those stories to life. We laughed, we learned, we asked questions, and left with a deeper appreciation for the people and communities who paved the way before us. I highly recommend this experience to anyone looking to see Miami through a different lens. You will leave informed, inspired, and probably already planning your next tour! 🖤✨

A tiny house, a small police precinct, a lawyer's office, a church in the shadow of a highway, or a neon-lit stairway, all have immense significance in the history of Black Miami. I am glad to have been offered a chance to discover them and to dwell for a moment in this rich and complex past. It makes a huge difference to have guides that are deeply invested in sharing their passion for Black history in Miami. For them, this is not a job; this is a calling. Thank you Melanin Miami

This was a great Black history tour! Learning about the Black community of Overtown and its peoples accomplishments followed by a delicious healthy soul food meal was a wonderful way to spend part of the afternoon.

Our tour guide was personable yet professional. The tour was very informative, the museums were full of Miami's Black History. The tour ended with lunch at Lil Greenhouse Grill, where I had the best Grits ever.

Birthday Sistas June & July Celebration Outing to Miami and the tour of Overtown's rich history was fantastic. Our tour guide, Keymia was patient and informative with us. Another example of success for people of color is documented in history.

This was an informative and fun tour that I would recommend for anyone looking to understand the history of Miami, and you get to see a section of Miami not typically visited on vacation. Highly recommend!!

Keymia was a excellent tour guide. I am from Miami and I try to keep up with Miami’s black history some information I was familiar with but there was so much more Keymia introduced me too that I didn’t know. She is very knowledgeable and confident in relaying the information. She introduced us to parts of Miami I never knew about and parts that I heard of but didn’t know the background. One in particular “Good Bread Alley”. The reason why I went on this tour was because of my bookclub. The book of the month(When No One is Watching) starts out with a walking tour of a Black Neighborhood but the tour guide didn’t talk about the “black history” so one of the people on the tour decided to do her owe tour in the same neighborhood with black history. I would advise everyone to do this tour it is so worth it it’s an eye opener to this beautiful city that we live in. At the end of the tour I was full of knowledge and my appetite was satisfied as well from eating at the Little Green House Restaurant owed by a Miamian .
