Description

With your dedicated chef guiding you every step of the way, you'll learn to prepare a classic chicken tajine from scratch: selecting and blending the perfect spice mix, marinating the ingredients, and mastering the slow-cooking technique that makes Moroccan cuisine so distinctive. You'll also discover the ritual of Moroccan mint tea — its preparation, history, and significance in daily Moroccan life.
At the end of the session, sit down together at a beautifully laid table to enjoy the full meal you've created, complete with fresh bread, mint tea, and a traditional dessert. You'll leave with your recipe card, a certificate of completion, and the confidence to recreate authentic Moroccan flavors back home.

Too long, not a full enough experience
Food itself was great, but we were supposed to start at 12, and didn't start until closer to 1pm and not offered drinks whilst waiting. Lots of hanging around, doing nothing whilst waiting for it to start, and then waiting for the food to cook. Wasn't a lot of food prep required, prep took about 20 mins of the 4.15 hours we were there!
Could build in other cooking/ learning experiences to fill the gaps.
Instructor was good. But group we were with was French, so we we're the only English, so didn't gel as a group.

I had such an amazing...
I had such an amazing experience at this cooking class! From start to finish, everyone was so kind, welcoming, and genuinely sweet. You could really feel the passion they have for what they do, and they made the entire experience feel so personal and enjoyable. 🤎 And the FOOD?! Absolutely delicious! Everything was fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. I learned so much while also having a great time, laughing, and enjoying the whole experience.

This was a great...

Unmatched Tajine Class
If I could give this 6 stars I would! Hamza and the crew at Riad Niela were fantastic. A highlight of our trip in Morocco, learning the culinary history and cooking method for tajine. Food that we made was delicious and the group environment was very fun. Hamza was a great teacher, helped us personalize our recipes and went above and beyond to give us insight and recipes. He also helped us organize some other activities at the Riad as well. Can't reccomend this experience enough!

Cooking lessons
The cooking went very well, Hamza is a passionate chef who explains well and a lovely character, a beautiful meeting. We liked this activity in the beautiful signature Riad Nelia.
However, viator announces this activity at 10am, but in reality it started at 11am. And normally it's an activity that starts at 12:00, according to what we've been told.

We had a fun afternoon...
We had a fun afternoon learning about Moroccan food and cooking our own delicious lunch in a traditional riad in the medina. Hamza was a great host and made sure it was a fun and informative session.

A truly wonderful Moroccan cooking experience
We took part in a Moroccan cooking class where we learned how to make a traditional chicken tagine, and then got to sit down and enjoy the meal together afterwards — which was delicious and incredibly rewarding.
Our teacher was fantastic: knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely passionate about Moroccan cuisine. He explained the differences between various tagines, shared insights into Moroccan food culture, and even gave us a lovely introduction to Moroccan tea, herbs, and their history.
It was not just a cooking class, but a fascinating cultural and historical experience as well. Relaxed, informative, and great fun. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Morocco.

Not worth it
We pay 44 euros to cook a single dish. The staff was very friendly but the experience of learning Moroccan cuisine was super poor. Paying that amount to eat a plate of Tajin is a trivia and we pay it.

We were surprised by your description of the experience, as our cooking class is highly appreciated by the vast majority of our guests and participants, who consistently enjoy both the dishes and the cultural learning involved.
From the beginning of the class, your attitude was unfortunately unpleasant and at times aggressive toward our staff, despite our team remaining respectful and supportive throughout. The experience is not simply about “eating one dish,” but about learning the full process of traditional Moroccan cooking using fresh ingredients, guided by our chef in an authentic cultural setting.
We respect all opinions, but we do not feel this review reflects the usual experience of our guests.
