Marrakech Medina Night Tour – Private City Tour

We booked two half-day private tours of Marrakesh. They were in the daytime but that wasn’t an option so I posted my review here. The company was extremely responsive via email. They were very responsive and great to deal with. They were more than happy to develop custom tours. One tour focused on historical sights while the other tour focused on the souks, The guide was pretty good although both tours ran a little long. They both lasted 4 hours but could have probably been done in 3. Overall, a good touring company for Marrakesh.

Noura was an excellent guide! She mixes taking you around with the history of the place, including the sights and sounds. I got a very good insight into the daily life of Moroccans with her. It was also very flexible, with the itinerary adjusting based on what you want to see and experience. I highly recommend it!

We had the good fortune of having Noura as our guide in Marrakech. We only had two days so she customized a plan for us that allowed us to cover all the things we were interested in: history, key sites, culture, food, shopping in the souks, and local experiences. Her organization and professionalism were superb. Everything ran efficiently and on time. She managed to arrange for us to arrive at the right places at the right time to get the best out of our days. She smoothed the way for us so that everything was thought of and just plain easy - it would have been way more frustrating, time-consuming, costly and inefficient to do it independently. She has excellent people skills and sensed when and how to adapt the tour to meet our pace and interests. Our days included food tastings, visiting historical sites, shopping in the souks, and having a local experience in a home. She arranged for us to have a traditional lunch in a home where we were so welcomed. And then we had henna tattoos and makeup done with local products - it was so fun and hilarious. We had such a great time with the women we met and got a great glimpse into local life. Noura became a female tour guide 15 years ago in a male dominated industry and has clearly built tremendous respect (for good reason). She trains new tour guides and makes a special effort to train women also. I have no doubt that all the tour guides in her company will be just as excellent. On the first day of our Morocco trip, we had a private tour with Noura which was an excellent starting point to a brand new country and culture. Noura took us around, filled us with fun facts and the basics of the culture so that we can adapt and better understand. We had a great time and I would most definitely recommend Noura as your Marrakech guide!

Noura conducted an amazing tour! She was informative, engaging and offered great insight into Moroccan culture, history and customs. The tour was as exactly as expected, and made even better by her suggested additions and extras. I choose Tours by Locals because I want to get to know new places through the eyes of locals and not the commercial interests of most tour companies. I couldn’t be happier with the time we spent with Noura, I truly felt we were able to understand and appreciate Marrakech and Morocco in ways we couldn’t have with other companies. I booked a tour with Noura for our family when we visited Marrakech. Noura picked us up it’s her driver even though we were at a location outside her area. She took us to the old town, she was very friendly and knowledgeable. We had a wonderful afternoon learning about the history and visiting the old town.

From the moment we met Noura, we knew we were going to have a truly immersive and special experience. She began by teaching us a few simple Arabic phrases, then shared the historical background of the area we were about to explore. As we walked through the Medina, she highlighted architectural details we would have otherwise missed and offered thoughtful insight into the intersection of the many cultures that come together in Marrakesh. I only realized later that my husband had specifically requested a female guide in order to support women-owned businesses in the area. I’m so glad he did, because we would never have met the incredible Noura otherwise. Her warmth, knowledge, and perspective made the experience unforgettable. We didn’t have nearly enough time in Morocco, but we will absolutely return and have Noura and her team arrange a much longer itinerary to explore more of the country. We are so grateful our hotel concierge connected us with her. Highly recommend.

The tour was amazing. I would definitely recommend Noura as a tour guide. She was very knowledgeable and friendly. I would recommend this company to all my friends and family!!!!

An excellent tour! Noura is the best guide! The whole time he was watching over us. She is a very warm and careful woman. It made the tour very enjoyable for adults, but also for our teenage children. Even when we finished our tour with her she kept an eye on us. Super recommended.

We booked our guide Noura and what an absolute gem she was. Very knowledgeable about her country and its history. We spent half a day with her around the Bahia palace, the souks and the medina. Totally recommend her services. She also spoke Perfect English.
