What a wonderful experience. Our drivers were lovely. We met our guide Mustpha at the destination where he led us to his Berber village and shared breakfast and mint tea with his family. Be warned there is a steep walk, but Mustpha helped anyone having difficulty and didn't rush us. He's a fabulous guide.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐We finished off with a tagine dinner. Lovely stop off on the way at the Women's co-op to see Argana oil being made. it is a long day and the temperature is high so bring water. There are shops to buy food and drink and some excellent cafes in Imlil.Lunch is extra so bring cash.
Super enriching activity with a professional and kind guide. Breathtaking landscapes!
Driver communicated well and arrived early. Good aircon in the car. Stopped for some photo stops, then onto the Womens co-operative, products are not cheap but excellent quality. Then we met our guide who took us on a hike to his home where we had tea and biscuits, then on to the waterfall and on for lunch (charged extra for this) but it was a delicious meal so please do this! It was a long hike, rocky ground, large steps and in the 45° heat wasn't easy, but it was an incredible experience. Our guide Mustafa was super friendly and kind and gave our children some gifts before we parted. Such a special experience and a wonderful day out!
Beautiful trip up to the Atlas Mountains. The journey was about 1.5 hours including some good places to stop and admire the views and a visit to a women’s argon oil co-operative (where you are clearly there to buy products but there was no overt pressure). At Imlil we joined up with some other visitors (a lovely Spanish family) and met Mustapha our guide. He was a really nice young guy from the area and clearly pleased and proud to show us around and talk about the Berber culture and history. The walk up through olive and fruit trees started off slightly steep but nothing too strenuous, even in the heat (considerably more comfortable than the 43° we’d left in Marrakesh). It soon evened out and it was a lovely stroll on tracks with views of mountains. Mustapha was an excellent guide, attentive whenever he wanted us to take care on slightly rougher sections and chatty and interesting as we walked. The smallish waterfall that we arrived at was lovely, not the one with the large cascades and boats, but a very scenic spot and a nice place to spend some time. We then carried on with our hike on mountain trails through groves and around hillsides to a small village where we had a nice meal (at a small additional cost) in a very nice alpine chalet style home before walking back down to meet our minibus. There were a lot of Atlas trip options but we were glad we chose this one, we heard from other people that they had endured very long journeys and disappointing walks at the end of them whereas I couldn’t fault our experience.
A fun day exploring in the scorching heat. The roadside stops lasted longer than they needed to and the waterfalls were picturesque. Lots of walking although none of it was too challenging. The cost was about incredible for what we got and even the extra for lunch which was a tasty sales, bread and tagine (my wife is veggie but they provided a vegetarian tagine for her which was huge!). The trip was good but there was a little bit of hanging around which, if this hadn’t happened, would have made it 5*
Great driver, totally all round great day
Mustapha was a pleasant and knowledgeable guide, local to the area. He gave us a lot of information and answered every question we had. The walk was not difficult and the waterfall at the end was lovely. Lunch was delicious. Only thing I wished for was to see maybe a few more waterfalls but I don’t think the were in the area we visited. Pick up and drop off were on time, efficient and easily organized.
Wow, we loved our excursion to Imlil and the villages around. Mustapha was an excellent guide, and Jamel our driver! A real no worries, just explore and absorb the culture experience! I will say that the time schedule goes a little out the window, so maybe don’t plan anything for after this in the day. But we loved that part. Got to experience a little of Berber life. Just a kind, giving culture who want to show you around! We loved it. I have an injured knee, and the walk was easy on this. Plus mustapha was caring and considerate the whole way. I would say it’s more of an 8hr experience, but worth it!
Mustapha our guide really made this trip for us. The Atlas Mountains, waterfalls, scenery and Berber people were simply incredible-
Long drive that gets you out into the countryside to see a different part of Morocco. The hiking guide was great and very knowledgeable about the area. The lunch was delicious, well worth the trip.
