Marrakech: Atlas Mountains Day Hike, Talamrout Summit 2700M

AOID! Didn't turn up to collect me, zero communication, all other operators for other trips I'd booked messaged via WhatsApp at least 24 hours before to confirm the name of the person meeting me, time, and meeting location with pin drops and everything. This operator didn't contact at all and hasn't responded to my messages and calls or the calls and emails sent by the Viator customer service team. This was the last excursion I'd booked for my trip and the one I was looking forward to the most so it's put a big downer on the holiday. Do yourself a favour, don't risk it, book with a different operator.

It is my absolute pleasure to write a review for this experience. I hiked with Ibrahim twice (first time there was a snowstorm and another - perfect weather, you can see photos from both), and both times it was a pleasure - a day full of stunning views, interesting stories and funny banters (oh, and a lot of snowball fights!) Just to preface: I am an experienced hiker and I think you will definitely enjoy this more if you are looking for something more challenging and sporty, so be prepared for some real action! I think the trip was overall well organised. They pick you up from your place at Marrakech and drive all the way to Imlil with a quick stop for some coffee (so your breakfast is your own responsibility). Then you get to the village and have an opportunity to hire some winter clothes (which served us well, as the path was snowy, which is fully expected in December - and our guide also negotiated us a good price). The pace was made comfortable to accommodate everyone in the group, and Ibrahim emphasized that we could make more or less stops depending on how people in the group feel. The views are absolutely amazing, and the path to the peak goes through scenic forests, rock formations and also a tea-house (but Ibrahim also has a little kettle hidden close to the top - to surprise you with some tea during the summer hikes). Both times at the top we had some snacks (trail mix and the best ever dates I've ever had), and then proceeded with a fun part - going down trailing our own path at the snow, as this way in the current conditions was not only faster but also safer. Meanwhile, we were exchanging stories, learning more about Morocco, Atlas mountains and Amazigh culture. And also getting the recommendations for things to do and try in Marrakech. This experience ends with a hearty lunch at the host's home prepared by his mother - the tajine and couscous are both super-tasty, and it is also a unique chance to peak into the traditional Berber house and appreciate its architecture. Overall, I highly recommend this tour to anyone coming to Marrakech, and I think it is good value for money. Ibrahim is not only a knowledgeable guide but also a good hiking buddy. He is fluent in French and descently speaks English. Moreover, he made a lot of cool pictures of me, so now I can show them and brag to my friends and family! I am now planning to summit Toubkal and I cannot imagine doing it with anyone else but Ibrahim. Thank you so much for the amazing experience! :)
