Marble Carving or Mosaic Basic Techniques -3 hour lesson -

This was a fun experience. A few things to remember.... You are carving marble so wear something that is not dressy. You will be in an open area that is not air conditioned. You have to pack your marble for travel back home...be mindful of the size of marble you are picking. Also very important....keep an open mind! So, this was a fun and unexpected activity for our family of five (ages 13, 17. 18). We enjoyed this experience. Kristos was very nice (quirky). You can tell he knows what he is doing. His son was also there and was very sweet. Kristos made delicious fresh limeade as there are lime and lemon trees throughout the property. He shared how he propagated lime, lemon and orange trees (clearly we are city folks :).

If you want a genuine Greek experience with a true artisan this class is an exceptional choice. The host picks the group up personally. He is friendly, funny, and communicates very well. Fresh lemonade made from the fruit of the trees on his property was waiting when we arrived. We were taught how to hand carve marble through demonstration, and guided practice. Everyone left with a beautiful piece of their own creation. Ask to see the hand made marble bathroom under construction. It’s awe inspiring.

Was very authentic. Made us have respect for marble sculptures. We had an 8 year old in our group. Make sure to make room in your luggage as each piece is fairly small it will weigh 1kg.

It is truly an experience and was so much fun! Marble cutting isn’t easy but they help teach you and you come out with an amazing piece to take home. Very unique experience and will do it again when we come back!

The man was very short and a bit rude when you made mistakes. Didn’t really take time to help mostly sat around smoking and talking with his daughter. Use the restroom if you do decide to do this because you have to use a tree.

I had such a great time at the Marvel carving class! I came in with an idea already in mind, and the instructors were incredibly helpful throughout the whole process. They really took the time to make sure everyone was happy with what they created, and the atmosphere was welcoming and encouraging. Plus, you get an amazing piece to take home at the end. Definitely a 5-star experience — I’d absolutely recommend it!

This was an interesting experience. The ride in the old pickup truck bed was fun if you’re young, and challenging if you have any mobility issues. The yard and open air studio displayed a wide collection of works, some practice pieces by prior students, other works in progress. Christos pointed to an area and described plans for bathrooms, as best we could tell. We weren’t sure if that was where we should “go” if needed. There was a German Shepherd tied up nearby, so I wasn’t comfortable wandering very far around. It also wasn’t clear when we signed up that this was part of the experience. Christos’ command of English was limited, though we were able to get the gist of his instruction. We completed our projects in about an hour. By that time, our arms were a bit tired from chiseling, and we were ready to leave. The lemonade was best I’ve had!

We had a great time in this introductory marble carving class! We had some great lemonade and it was a great fun couple of hours. We also got a marble souvenir to take back home. Overall, highly recommend!

Christos is a diamond in the rough, a self-taught artist who lives only for his projects, his beautiful garden, and his animals. He is a patient, careful, and thoughtful instructor. He explains high-level concepts first, then has you put them into practice. He has you visualize your desired result in a specific piece of stone, which you take with you at the end. He also knows exactly when to step in and take over the tools and when to let you keep going on your own. It's a fantastic opportunity to get to know a unique medium, marble. There is an element of adventure in this experience: the ride from the town to the garden is somewhat rough, his truck is rather small, and the conversation is a mixture of English and Greek. His homemade lemonade is not to be missed!

Had a great time! Had the best lemonade of our lives but even better experience marble carving! He had cool stories and the view of the area of the carving was beautiful! Very easy going and helpful as well!
