Marna was an amazing tour guide, highly recommend the managers special. We will be booking the brewery tour with her this trip as well!
Our guide made it sure for our family to understand the comments in english by speaking slowly. Even our 13 year old son got everything. The comments are accusate. We learned about symbols in street art. No doubt our guide had an experience about teaching and fitting to our public. The drive was really safe as well. Thanks
As recent transplants to Houston, we were eager to showcase our new city to visiting friends and family. Naturally, we began with the iconic red double-decker tour bus we'd seen weaving through downtown. Unfortunately, after two underwhelming experiences with guides who recited historical facts with all the passion of a DMV clerk on their third double shift, we were left convinced that Houston might be fascinating… if only someone could tell its story properly…. So, the next time we were hosting a crew, we booked JoyRide Houston instead, and suddenly our hometown had a twang, a swagger, and a whole lot of sparkle! JoyRide delivers open-air, wind-in-your-hair adventures aboard electric golf carts, led by storytellers whose charisma and comedic timing is matched only by their knowledge. The tours are intentionally small (limited by the size of the golf carts) which means each experience is personal, flexible, and interactive. From timely photo stops to in-depth questions, we were treated as honorary guests, not a headcount. To date, we have taken three of their signature experiences, and each one exceeded expectation: • Houston Sightseeing Tour We cruised through the city’s historic, theater, business, courthouse, and sports districts while our guide painted vivid pictures of Houston’s past and present. From early founders and presidential visits to architectural marvels and sports legends, every story was rich with detail and energy. • Mural and Instagram Tour Far more than a photo-op, this tour offers a deep dive into Houston’s internationally acclaimed street art. Our guide provided context on the artists, their techniques, and the cultural significance of each piece, even highlighting hidden symbols and "Easter eggs" we’d have missed entirely without her insight. She knew the scene intimately, some of the artists personally, and it showed. • Brewery Tour A lively, flavorful celebration of Houston’s craft beer scene. We laughed, we learned, and we drank fantastic local brews alongside total strangers who quickly felt like old friends. By the end of the night, we were buzzing with camaraderie, stories…and maybe one too many 7.2% IPAs. If Houston had an official ambassador, historian, and comedian wrapped into one unforgettable personality, it would be one of our favorite JoyRide guides, Marna. Her encyclopedic knowledge of Houston, effortless humor, and masterful storytelling transform each tour into something truly memorable. Marna didn’t just share facts, she introduced us to the soul of the city: its characters, its context, its hidden gems, and even the best barbecue joint within two blocks of the coldest beer! Based on our experiences with JoyRide Houston, they aren’t just a tour company -- it’s a revival of your sense of wonder and connection to place. I highly recommend JoyRide and any of their tours if you’re a visitor, a new resident, or Houston has been your home for decades… because they will connect you to the spirit that earned H-town it’s grit, grace, and legacy.
Wow!! Thank you SO much for your gracious review!! Your words capture the experience we were hoping for when we started Joyride Houston 7 years ago! The laughter and awe you expressed makes our jobs as ambassadors of the city so rewarding! I can’t wait to share Galveston Island with you in the near future!
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I really feel like we got to see a lot of the city and also there was not really any down time moments. Marna was a fantastic guide and a pleasure to ride with.
Thanks so much. We are glad you had a great time!
I strongly advise against booking the Private 3-in-1 Sightseeing, Brewery, and Mural Tour of Houston by Cart. It was an absolute ripoff at $115 per person for a "non-refundable" tour that was supposed to last 3 hours but ended abruptly in just 1 hour. The itinerary was extremely misleading. We spent 3 minutes looking at a "chocolate village" in the Hilton Americas hotel lobby, which hardly qualifies as a proper sightseeing stop. Despite advertising a mural-focused tour, we only saw about 18 murals in downtown—not even the iconic Houston mural wall. It felt rushed and unorganized. We specifically requested not to include the brewery portion, yet the alternative stops were poorly planned, and nothing substantial was offered in place of that. The driver and lead guides, Robbie and Marna, seemed pleasant but provided very little insight or context during the stops. Here's the actual itinerary: 20 minutes at Houston 10 minutes at One Market Square 5 minutes at Buffalo Bayou Park Brief pass-by landmarks like the Downtown Historic District Market Square, Aquarium, Discovery Green, and more. The advertised highlights—Minute Maid Park, Toyota Center, and others—were simply drive-bys with no actual stops. The experience felt incomplete and poorly executed, leaving us feeling cheated. I cannot recommend this tour to anyone. Save your money and explore Houston on your own—you’ll get far more value and a better experience.
It is very unfortunate that you did not enjoy your tour. We take pride in delivering the best product possible as you can see in all of our overwhelmingly positive reviews. With the timing of the booking, we tried to get in as many murals as possible as they are not lighted. This was an accommodation FOR YOU. The city sights were covered and all of the historical AND pertinent data was shared. We always tell our guests if they have questions to ask us. I find it unfair that you waited 2 weeks following your tour to bring things up instead of at the time of the tour. You did not give us an opportunity to address or meet your concerns. Now you have placed me in a reactive mode rather than being supportive and proactive. I stand by our product, delivery and integrity. Unfortunately no matter how true we are to ourselves, we cannot please everyone, especially if we are not aware of our guests dissatisfaction. We wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Guide was friendly and welcoming Was early for pick up too. Knowledgeable about everything re city tour and was happy for us to ask questions. Plenty of stops and opportunities to take photos. Last stop was at platypus brewery. Beers selection was great and tasted yummy. Good experience
We utilized their transportation services to get from George Bush International to Galveston, from Galveston to Houston and from Houston back to George Bush International. Also made use of their Galveston tour and the Houston Manager’s Special VIP tour. Their knowledge of the areas and suggestions for activities helped calm my pre trip nerves before we arrived.
Arthur we enjoyed meeting you and Estella! Thanks for sharing about our airport transportation as well as our tour offerings!!
The mural's were really cool to see - would have liked to see more of the city. The city has so much to offer. Discovery Green is a cool area.
Houston DOES have so much to offer as we shared 7 city districts (Convention District w/Discovery Green, Sports Arenas, Judicial and Historic areas, Theater, Oil and Gas and City Hall) on this tour guests see 20+ murals along the way for pictures and we visit one of the local craft breweries. This is quite a comprehensive tour for 2 hours getting the best of our city! 3 tours in one! We enjoyed your group so much and appreciated getting to know and show off our city!!
My sorority sisters and I thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Our guides were very informed, professional, friendly and personable. The art work we saw was absolutely beautiful and inspiring and the place where we chose to have drinks was adorable. Highly recommend!
