If ever in Dakar, you cannot miss this tour. My tour guide Abdoulaye was amazing, and made sure that I got a comprehensive tour of BOTH Mamelles Lighthouse and Ngor Island. Both places were incredibly beautiful, overlooking the ocean, with a million different colors of blue. A relaxing half day tour in the north of Dakar that includes exploring a working lighthouse. A treat to be able to see the inside of one. Great views from there. My 16 year old son and I did this first rate half day visit to Phare de Mamelles and Ngor Island with Pape. He was a lively and interesting guide! We loved the lighthouse tour, learned a lot, saw Dakar from a high elevation, and got many amazing photos. Then we went to Ngor Island, a beautiful artist community. We toured the town, had refreshments at the Maison de Bonheur, and walked along the cliffs to see the surfers. We loved this adventure and would do it again!
