Your local expert will be waiting for you at the meeting point. Get ready to begin your food adventure through the streets of Malaga! Please, bear in mind that the tastings here described may change according to the season and the availabilities of our partners.
At the first stop, you enter a historic tavern from 1840, where rustic wooden beams and stone walls set the scene. Here, you’ll enjoy a shot of sweet Moscatel or Pedro Ximénez wine, paired with a tasting of either anchovy or fresh salmon pinchos. The rich flavors and the tavern's timeless atmosphere create a truly memorable experience.
Next, head to a vibrant local spot near the Picasso Museum, a XVI century palace that hosts more than 200 works of Picasso. Nearby, you’ll be served a glass of wine or a small beer, along with a selection of savory tapas. You can choose between carrillada (tender pork cheeks) or atún (tuna), or opt for the rich flavors of chivo malagueño (goat stew), crispy chicharrones, or the succulent atún encebollado (tuna in onion sauce). To share, you’ll also taste half a portion of albóndigas (meatballs) that perfectly complement the tapas.
Plaza de la Merced is one of the most important and most ancient squares in town, existing since Roman times. It truly embodies Andalusian soul and hear you can see some surroundings monument such as the Monument to Torrijos or the house where Pablo Picasso was born. Nearby, at the next destination, dive into the essence of Andalusian cuisine with a selction of tapas, such as berenjenas al miel (fried aubergines with a delicious honey sauce) or anchovies! To accompany your dishes, enjoy a drink of your choice, rounding out the flavors of this authentic Spanish experience.

Our guide was great. We spent a little too much time in the market at different stalls, it was stuffy and hot there even though it was nice to see. The cheeks and fried anchovies at El Pimpi were the best!
Gabriella was lovely, a great guide. The first two tapas bars were great- traditional Spanish which is just what we wanted to experience. However, the tour didn’t meet the expectations and previous reviews. 1) The tour visited only three venues not 4 as described. 2) The tapas provided were ok, nothing fantastic or memorable. 3) Apart from one traditional wine every other drink was choose your own. 4) the tour ended after 2.5 hours not the 3.5 hours as described. It was underwhelming and a disappointment. Gabriella was lovely though
Hello, We thank you a lot for your feedback and we would like to apologize if the experience you had didn't meet up your expectations. Indeed, there were some unexpexcted circumstances that led the tour to last a little less than 3 hours, as the last venue, the bakery, has closed sooner than expected and the guide had to go there and get them to take away, so that you could have a taste of a local dessert, such as the pionono, as well. We're sorry if the food and drink selection wasn't memorable as you wished and we will keep this feedback in mind to improve our experience for future customers. This tour was an amazing experience! Our tour guide was Rosarillo! She was so much fun and very knowledgeable and passionate about Magala wine, tapas and the history of Malaga. This has to be the best food tour I have been on yet! So many different things to try, so many glasses of wine haha! Some of the most passionate teaching and such interesting parts of history with the city was included as well as an easy to find meet up point. We had a small group which was very nice, it created a very jolly and intimate atmosphere. If we ever come back definitely booking again!!!
We enjoyed a truly fantastic day with our guide Rosario. She was a lovely, bubbly, intelligent and very knowledgeable guide who from the start shared her passion for Malaga, its history and obvious love for its food and drink. Rosario shared this all with us throughout and showed us some wonderful food and wine. Hope you enjoy the experience as much as we did.
