It was amazing! Margaret Rose was incredibly knowledgeable and excelled in explaining not only the wines, but their origins, the specifics of regional requirements and what makes French wines uniquely French. I feel much more comfortable ordering a wine that I will truly enjoy. I cannot recommend this experience enough. Such a great way to spend time in Lyons! Thank you, Margaret Rose. We wish you the very best!
The smaller was extremely knowledgeable and presented her information in a very, very positive informative way. There was four people late for the event and she handled it quite graciously. The wines and charcuterie board were as described in the tour description.
Thank you so much!
Amazing wines and the company and sommelier were fantastic
Thank you so much!
We spent a terrific afternoon with Raphaël, a professional, knowledgeable and approachable sommelier, tasting wines from vintners around the Burgundy, Beaujolais, Savoie and Rhône regions. The location was easy to find thanks to detailed and clear instructions emailed to us prior to the day of our tasting. It is a cool space! We also had regional cheeses, charcuterie and baguette with our wine. Raphaël surprised us with delightful unexpected wines, starting with a welcome glass of sparkling (“creamant “) wine. We follow @winedinecaroline on Instagram, listen to her Fishwives podcast and purchased her guide to Lyon and her restaurant guide/map, so it was fun to participate in the wine tasting connected to her business!
Thank you so much! This kind of support means the world to me, truly. <3
Great experience. Maddy’s casual style is not intimidating, but can be dialed up as much you want. She’s a wonderful guide through this delicious subject.
Thank you so much! She is wonderful!
Great tasting, the wines and cheeses were paired beautifully. Our guide was knowledgeable and we learnt a lot while also enjoying the company. The setting was unique and loved that it was styled in a beautiful home. Would highly recommend.
Merci!
This was a terrific experience and a lot of fun. Attended with a group of nine colleagues visiting Lyon. I arranged the event with Caroline who was friendly and very accommodating with some last-minute changes, which I really appreciated. The choice of wines was thoughtful and the paired food delicious. Caroline is knowledgeable, very funny, engaging, and shared insights into wine production from around the world, not just France, which was a nice experience for the international group. Just a great way to spend the afternoon and can't recommend highly enough.
Thank you so much!
We had the best afternoon tasting 5 wines from regions around Lyon with a local sommelier. We started with a sparkling wine and got to know the others in our group. Then we moved to the table for a blind tasting of 2 whites and 2 reds and enjoyed a charcuterie board with local meats and cheeses. Our family is gluten intolerant and they even had gluten free bread for us. It was a great way to experience more French wines from areas we will not have time to visit. Also fun to meet fellow travelers and interact in a social setting. Highly recommend!
Cheers!
Traveling with my husband and a friend to Lyon, I found Caroline via TripAdvisor. Background for this review. We are not wine experts but also not novices. We really enjoy learning about wine, not just drinking it. We had a special private tasting booked by a friend in the industry in Burgundy but we also wanted to have a tasting that focused on other regions in the Rhone. Not having to get back in a car was a bonus. This experience was perfect in every way. Tasted 5 amazing wines with a fabulous charcuterie platter in a great setting. What really made it special was Caroline's knowledge and warmth. Fine wine should be accompanied by excellent conversation and it was. We also learned a lot and the tasting was easy to plan. I can't recommend Caroline highly enough. Ten stars.
Thank you!
Nicely done presentation and blind tasting of four French wines. Three regional cheeses, cured meats, olives and bread were presented as well.
Thank you so much!
