Itinerary
Welcome to Beaujolais, Saint Amour is the first cru (exceptional wine area) we'll be visiting.
We'll stop at the church of the village to visit it and tell you about all the things we discovered about this place. Expect to travel in time!
Moulin à Vent is known as the lord of Beaujolais wines, it was competing with Romane Conti in the late 19th century, we'll tell you the story of that. Moulin à vent means Windmill in french and guess what? There will be an authentic 15th century wind mill to be seen there!
Fleurie is known as the most feminine cru of Beaujolais, ironically, it was put on the map by a woman last century. Depending on your mood and thirst, we'll either stop at the cooperative, that also acts as a local bar, for a tasting, or we'll head uphill to our favorite viewpoint in the vineyards, we'll pull out long chairs and open a few bottles for you to taste, one of them being from the vineyard where we'll be standing.

Melanie was very nice and accommodating us! We truly appreciate all the effort she put in in making the tour unforgettable!
What a fantastic day with Amelie! Very well planned and coordinated. Amelie picked us up at the train station and our first winery stop started in the vineyards and progressed to the tastings and then the winery operations. We actually changed to the full day tour that allowed us to visit three wineries and have lunch with one of the winemakers. Amelie and the winemakers were all very informative and knowledgeable about the entire Beaujolais area and helped us understand the complicated French classification and bottle labeling system. The tastings took place where they make their wines. Note that this is a completely different experience from the mega wineries/wine showrooms - you visit family wineries producing very limited quantities of excellent wines that the actual winemakers describe and explain why they taste the way they do. A great learning experience. Highly recommend.
Thank you for such a generous review! We’re especially glad you enjoyed the intimacy of meeting small Beaujolais producers and tasting the wines right where they’re made. Amelie has a real gift for making the region — and French wine classifications! — feel clear, human and enjoyable. Sharing lunch with a winemaker was the perfect way to round out the day. Thank you again for the recommendation!
We had such a special experience on our honeymoon. Melanie and the team went above and beyond. Would recommend to all!
What a lovely way to celebrate your honeymoon — thank you for trusting us with a little piece of it! We’re so happy Melanie and the team helped make the experience feel extra special. Wishing you both many more adventures together! Vive les mariés!
Mélanie was fantastic! We had a great time tasting at two vineyards and exploring Beaujolais. We learned a lot about the process and the differences between the terroirs and appellations. Highly recommend!
Thank you so much! We’re delighted Mélanie made your Beaujolais experience both fun and insightful. Discovering how much the wines can change from one terroir and appellation to the next is part of what makes this region so fascinating. We’ll be sure to pass your lovely words on to Mélanie!
A fantastic private tour. Our guide, Clemence, was wonderful, friendly and knowledgeable. The wineries we visited were hosted by the owners , providing great insights into the details of producing excellent wines. Highly recommended!!!
Thank you so much! We’re delighted that Clémence made the day feel both warm and insightful. Meeting the winemakers themselves is always something special — it turns a tasting into a real encounter with the people behind the bottles. We’ll be sure to pass your kind words on to Clémence!
Benoit’s wine tour was the highlight of our Lyon trip and worth every penny. He crafted a unique experience based on our wine preferences. He even asked what types of local cheese we would like to sample with the last tasting. He took us to 2 wineries, one a small, family owned and the other a larger production. We learned about the wines of the area, explored the caves & production areas, then enjoyed tasting of several wines. The 4 hour tour flew by! Total trip time is about 6 hours including transportation to/from the train station to hotel. Things to note: The vintage Range Rover with the rag top was fun, so dress appropriately for getting in and out of the back. Chilled water was provided for the hot day. Bring a backpack or strong bag to carry some wine on the train because you will want to purchase these beautiful wines. Benoit planned ahead with us, meet us on the train platform, and got us back to the station . A truly customized & private wine experience as only my friend and I were on the tour. We opted for fewer wineries due to the heat, but honestly it allowed for an in-depth experience and even time with one of the owners who shared his family’s history of wine making. Priceless!
“Priceless” is a pretty wonderful word to read — thank you! We’re delighted Benoit created something that felt genuinely tailored to you, from the choice of wineries to the cheeses and the slower pace in the heat. Those unhurried moments with winemakers are often where the best stories come from. And yes… travelling home with a few extra bottles is a very common side effect of a day in Beaujolais!
Elodie was an excellent guide! Very knowledgable and personable - she wanted to make sure we had the best experience possible. I would highly recommend this tour!
Thank you so much! Elodie puts a lot of care into making each experience feel personal, so we’re delighted that came through. We’ll be very happy to pass your kind words on to her. Thank you for the recommendation!
What a spectacular tour! The individual attention was above expectations. The time with the wine maker (and his happy dog) was informative and tasty. Melanie was one of the best guides yet.
Thank you so much! We’re delighted the personal attention — and a certain very happy winery dog — made the experience even more memorable. We’ll make sure Mélanie sees your kind words. Being called one of the best is quite a compliment!
Amelie at BI is a knowledgeable and nice person, and took us on a bumpy ride to wine tasting and the better cellar to explore local wine. Up from Macon. Very interesting and relaxing and a good quiet lunch. All my recommendations for all. I will come back for a longer tour preferably at Baune. Al my best to BI and Amelie. Thanx.
Thank you so much for your kind message! We are delighted to read that you enjoyed your ride with Amélie, from the bumpy little roads to the wine tastings, cellar visit and quiet lunch. She will be very happy to know that you appreciated her knowledge and company. It was a real pleasure to welcome you, and we would love to see you again for a longer ride next time. All our best from BI and Amélie!
We had an excellent experience with Benoit on our Insiders tour. Ben truly customized the day to our preferences and made everything feel seamless. I had mentioned that I’d love to taste a rosé, even though it’s not the primary wine of the region, and Ben went above and beyond by surprising us with two winery stops that both offered rosé tastings. Ben was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about the area and its wines. Both winery visits were fantastic, and we only wished we had room to bring home even more wine. The classic Land Rover was such a fun and memorable part of the experience. We know it can’t be the easiest vehicle to drive, but it added so much charm to the day. Ben also took us to several beautiful spots beyond the tastings, kindly offered to take photos for us, and was especially helpful with translation throughout the day, which made everything much easier and more enjoyable. We were genuinely sad when the tour ended and wished we had booked a longer experience to spend more time exploring with Ben. If we return to Lyon, we would absolutely book another tour with him without hesitation. Highly recommend! That ending makes it feel especially authentic and enthusiastic.
Thank you so much for this wonderful message! We are delighted to read that your day with Benoit felt so seamless, personal and full of lovely surprises — rosé included! He will be very happy to know how much you appreciated his knowledge, kindness, translations, photo stops and all the little details that made the day special. It was a real pleasure to welcome you, and we would be thrilled to see you again for a longer ride next time. Ben and the Land Rover will be ready!
