Lusitano Trail - Horseback riding for beginners

This is a nice spot and the food was good. But the room lacked some key things. First, there was no air conditioning, just a small table fan. And it was very hot at night making sleeping uncomfortable. Also, there are no shelves in the bathroom or next to the sink for your toiletries even though there is space for shelving. This is annoying. The sink is also tiny, so when you wash up, water splashes all over your toiletries. The sole wastebasket in the room is tiny. Our room was not cleaned on time and we had to ask for fresh towels and toilet paper all the time. Not good.

Sara was amazing!!! She made my partner and I feel so comfortable on the horses. I was scared at first but she put me at ease and we all had a great time!!! Thank you for a wonderful experience 🙏🏼❤️

Horses were well trained and well looked after, amazing scenery and views. Bit of a strange experience though, I booked for 2 and was told at 1 to be there at 5 to 2. Arrived on time and was told I would be joining a group who just got back from their morning ride abd they needed lunch, that we would leave in 40 minutes but I could wait in the lounge and get coffee. We didnt end up leaving until 3.15. The horse team and lounge team don't appear to communicate much and it was very disappointing to be treated so rudely when I asked for coffee - it was made ear that this was a huge hassle, even having my water bottle filled seemed problematic for them. I was then berated for having no cash to pay (the card machine was a short walk away in another building). During the ride a customer felt unwell admitted was picked up, her horse was then led by the ride leader whoever it got loose twice. With these delays we ended up not getting back until 7.15. Our groups hired car had been returned at 7 so I then had to wait for a taxi. I understand that with horses things sometimes do not go to plan but I'm unclear why I couldn't have been told at 1 that they were running 1 hour behind. There was no apology from anyway for the problem this caused me (missing a wine tasting and dinner reservation for a birthday), no offer of help with transport etc. The same person who made me the coffee spoke to me again and told me that I shpukd just get used to things not being on time (2 hours late is not just not on time). Somewhat entertaining when he then chased guests who were 5 minutes mate for their dinner!

Who doesn’t want to horse back ride on a beautiful island with beautiful cliff views? We didn’t want to miss this and neither should you. Clean facility, well cared for horses.

This was the most fun I’ve ever had riding horses. The trail was beautiful. My kids were easily able to ride the horses (15 and 12).

This excursion was amazing! Diogo was an excellent guide who was kind and helpful. We were a family of mostly beginners and we felt like confident riders. The horses had excellent temperaments and we felt safe. We had a beautiful day and could see multiple islands. Wear sunscreen, comfy pants, and sneakers you don’t mind getting a little dirty/dusty. Highly recommend!
