Our tour guide was wonderful. All 7 of us thoroughly enjoyed our 1/2 day tour of the Faial. It was full of history, scenery and laughter. She was very reliable. It was a fun way to discover and fall in love with a beautiful island!
How lucky to have Idilia as a guide on our first visit to Faial. Professionalism, sympathy and, above all, a vast knowledge about the island. To repeat, no doubt!
Excellent visit to the island, with a guide always well disposed and very informed. The island missed, I'll recommend thanks
Great tour and beautiful island thanks to Alda! She clearly loves this island and took us to all the most beautiful spots, and told us really interesting stories about the history and culture of Faial. Highly recommend this tour, 5 stars!
Reuben was a super guide. He gave us a good history of Faial. The place we stopped were quite beautiful. We especially enjoyed the area with volcanic ash, rocks and the old lighthouse.
Thank you very much for your kind words! We’re so pleased to know you enjoyed your tour with Ruben and that the history of Faial, along with the beautiful stops such as the volcanic ash area and the old lighthouse, made the experience memorable. We hope to welcome you back to Faial in the future!
Leandro, our tour guide, did a fabulous job of sharing the high points on Faial Island, beginning with the chapel above Horta. Leandro provided a comfortable level of conversation, explanation and local knowledge as we traveled in the comfort of a large van. His knowledge of local lore, history, and landscape were amazing! We loved the northern end of the island with the “new” mountain created in 1957– my birth year. Never thot I would stand at the feet of mountains the same age as me! Would highly recommend this half day tour and Leandro as a tour guide. He was a conscientious driver as well- the narrow roads can be terrifying but he was confident and capable
Thank you so much for sharing such a wonderful review! We are delighted to hear how much you enjoyed your half-day tour with Leandro. His passion for Faial’s history, culture, and landscapes truly makes the experience special, and we’re glad you felt comfortable and well taken care of throughout the journey. Visiting the “new” mountain from 1957 is always a highlight, and it’s extra meaningful that it shares your birth year! We greatly appreciate your recommendation and hope to welcome you back to explore even more of Faial in the future.
Great views, our guide Leandro was very knowledgeable and friendly, and very good and careful driver for the curvy roads. It could be nice to have more time to walk a bit more but as it's only half a day tour, it's more about seeing beautiful views than walking!
We booked the day before so we’re pleasantly surprised when e we were the only guests. Our guide took us on around the island and across the centre explaining how volcanoes had formed the geography of the island over time. The map she gave us showed the main sites and she identified a number of plants as we went around. A coffee stop and a chance to enjoy local bread was welcome. Visiting the lighthouse and volcano exhibition is fascinating - on a full day tour you can stay for the needed 90 minutes there. If we had had more time we would have gone back and seem this and climbed to the top of the volcano. Our driver was very softly spoken so we found it difficult to hear her when we moving across rough roads such as cobbled areas. We did ask her to speak up but I’m sure we missed interesting information.
Great tour and unbelievably great guide. His short lectures about history and geology were condensed, fun and profesional. Thank you!

We thank Viator for this tour. Even in a half day tour we were able to experience lots!
