So back in Germany and autumn weather for starters…. 😔 . Today, I am first remembering the food tour with Latda. 😍. She is super competent and you can really tell that she loves showing people her hometown. The food was simply incredible. We had so many different dishes and each one of them was uniquely good. The portions were generous, I didn't have to suffer from hunger 🤣. Latda took us to hidden locations that I would never have found on my own and showed us food that I would never have ordered on my own. In addition, she told cool stories about Laotian food culture, which made the whole thing even more special. If you are in Luang Prabang and love food, you absolutely have to do this tour. Absolutely recommended!

Tour Options
Itinerary
We do our best to accommodate dietary requirements, allergies, and food preferences, including vegetarian and vegan options. However, Lao cuisine often uses ingredients such as fish sauce, fermented fish, meat-based broths, and shared cooking equipment. For this reason, suitable alternatives cannot always be guaranteed at every stop. Please let us know about any dietary requirements when booking so we can advise you and plan accordingly.
Walk on the grounds of Wat Visounarath, one of Luang Prabang’s oldest and most historic Buddhist temples. Built in the early 16th century, the temple is known for its distinctive Lao architecture and the unusual round That Makmo, or “Watermelon Stupa,” on its grounds. During the visit, learn about the role of Buddhism in daily Lao life and take a quiet moment to appreciate this important part of Luang Prabang’s cultural heritage. Note: Appropriate clothing is required to enter the temple grounds. The stop can be skipped without issues, if those requirements are not met.
Explore the flavours of Luang Prabang’s evening food market, where smoky charcoal grills, steaming noodle pots and colourful trays of Lao dishes come alive after sunset. This lively stop is a delicious introduction to the city’s casual street-food culture.

Coming from Thailand, after about three days in Luang Prabang, I started craving something different. These were true hidden gems — places I probably would never have found just by searching on Google Maps. The food was authentic, unique, and absolutely delicious. I got to try dishes that I wouldn’t have known about or ordered by myself. Our local guide knew Luang Prabang and its food culture very well. She explained everything clearly and was always happy to answer questions. The restaurant owners were also very friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. Overall, I’m really glad I booked this tour. If you want to discover authentic local food and hidden gems beyond the usual tourist spots, I definitely recommend it!
We did the tour as a couple and were really impressed by the choice of food offered. For us it was the first trip to Laos and getting to know the local food is so much easier with a guide. The tour offered a varied choice of authentic restaurants and street food. You will definitely leave full at the end of the day. Our guide Latda gave really interesting information about each dish and about Lao culture in general.
