Our guide Carlos was punctual and polite. He was as interested in us and our backgrounds as we were in his. It was clear he was deeply interested in food and eating and it was pleasure to have time spent with someone who was so personable and proud of his country. We got the full “Cook’s tour” in so many ways. We were not rushed but still so much was seen and eaten! A wonderful way to spend the morning.
The first day of our trip to Peru, we took part in Lima Gourmet's food trip and really loved it! Our tour guide Arthur was friendly and very familiar with Peruvian cuisine and culture, and the whole tour was lively and interesting. I liked every restaurant along the way and also tried many different Peruvian dishes. One of the most interesting parts is to visit the local market. Arthur took us to talk to different archives and introduced a variety of Peruvian fruits, sausages and ingredients, so we could not only eat delicious food, but also really learn a lot of local food culture. Another pretty good highlight is lunch at Restaurant Huaca Pucllana. The food is delicious, and you can see the archaeological sites of Huaca Pucllana directly without buying a line. While eating, while admiring this historic site, very good experience. The whole tour combines food, culture, history and a lot of interesting stories that are very worth participating.
Amy was incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and helpful during our food tour while in Lima. We had an excellent time and learned so much about the food and culture of the city and the surrounding areas thanks to Amy. We can’t wait to come back in the future and request her for future tours!!
Can’t wait to have you back again and we’ll make sure Amy shares more stories and great food :)
We found the gide very friendly and enjoyed interacting with her, She was very attentive with all our questions. Please please ask that patrons not smoke in the tour group.
I had the most magnificent experience with Patricia as our tour guide. It was more like catching up with an old friend and experiencing life through their eyes. 10/10
Thanks for the great review and kind words for Patricia! Love to hear that you had a wonderful time in Lima with us :)
Excellent tour with Patricia, who was so friendly and informative - I would 100% recommend it, as it covered so many interesting areas in Lima and especially all the delicious food on offer!
Thank you!! Hope the rest of your trip to Peru was as good :)
This is a fantastic experience if you want to get an overview of Lima’s culture and food traditions. I went with my husband and 2 college-aged sons. We sampled a variety of cuisines from fantastic coffee, delicious ceviche, and traditional Peruvian food overbooking Pre-Inca ruins. Lorenza is a terrific tour guide and very knowledgeable. Albert is a very professional driver. I loved that this tour was private for our family only. Our family are foodies and we firmly believe you cannot enjoy a country unless you enjoy their local cuisine! Would recommend to all our friends.
We are over the moon to hear you enjoyed this experience so much! Enjoy the rest of your trip with your lovely family!
One of the best experiences I've had in Peru! The tour was very rich in teachings and learning through our amazing guide Artur! Besides, the big point was all the delights that we had the pleasure of trying. Super recommend and would do again! We loved it, it was an excellent experience in a couple.
I took this tour on the last day of my month-long trip to Peru, and it was the perfect way to end an incredible vacation. The experience got off to a great start. I was picked up right outside my Airbnb in Miraflores, and the driver arrived right on time, making everything easy and stress-free. Our guide, Kimberly, was outstanding. She was knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely enthusiastic about Peruvian food and culture. She encouraged everyone to step outside their comfort zone and try new dishes, while also being very accommodating to those in the group who were picky eaters or had dietary preferences. The tour began with a walk through the historic district of Barranco, where we enjoyed a delicious breakfast of pan con chicharrón and coffee at a charming café. There were several beverage options available, which was a nice touch. We also visited an art gallery, adding some cultural context to the morning. Next, we stopped for a lúcuma shake. I had tried one earlier during my trip and loved it, so I was excited to have another. It was every bit as delicious as I remembered. We also visited a local market, where we sampled a variety of fresh Peruvian fruits. One of the highlights was our visit to Limaná, where we watched a pisco sour being prepared and learned how to make coconut ceviche ourselves. We also enjoyed a fantastic appetizer before heading to another restaurant located at an archaeological site, which made for a unique and memorable setting. Everything was well organized, the food was excellent, and the variety of experiences made the tour feel like much more than just a food tour. It combined history, culture, and incredible cuisine into one enjoyable experience. I highly recommend this tour. It was an excellent value for the price and one of the highlights of my time in Lima.
