There are 2 sections of churches and quite a lot of uphill walking and steps and narrow sections to walk through but it is an amazing experience. I had the most wonderful young man as my guide, Tadi. . He was not only extremely knowledgeable about explaining and describing the churches but he helped me up steps and through rough or muddy areas as gently and thoughtfully as he would have done his own mother, or grandmother. He was delightful and I am very grateful for his help. The churches are stunning, unlike any others in the world and to see a religious serves in one of them as well was truly remarkable. This was a wonderful tour for a single, a lady of senior years ant that, and would have been just as good with other people. And ask for Tadesse.
