Fannette is the only island to be found in all of Lake Tahoe. It is located in beautiful Emerald Bay on the west shore of the lake. A sparsely timbered, brush covered upthrust of granite that rises 150 feet above the water, Fannette Island was not always known by that name. During the past 100 years it has been known as Coquette, Fannette, Baranoff, Dead Man's, Hermit's, and Emerald Isle. Fannette was the name that finally stuck.

With its rugged shoreline and blue-green water, Emerald Bay is one of the most photographed places in the world. Vikingsholm, a replica of a Scandinavian castle (800 A.D.), is part of the park. The building is considered one of the finest examples of Scandinavian

Disappointed

We were extremely disappointed in our cruise. The paddle wheel, Dixie, was being repaired so we traveled on a small yacht. It seemed crowded and seating was uncomfortable.

It a lovely, relaxing cruise in a magical place. It was in the middle of August and the weather was great about 75 degrees, if it was any cooler you might want to pack a sweater. The historical, and geological information was very good and easy to hear.

The boat ride was very enjoyable and relaxing. They shared information along the way that made it more interesting. They had refreshments, which gave you the ability to have lunch or snacks. I would highly recommend this tour to anybody who wants to experience a beautiful boat ride on Lake Tahoe.

Beautiful Experience

This was such a breathtaking experience! We went all the way to Emerald Bay, which was green water instead of dark blue water. We learned about how many feet deep the lake is, etc. It was around two hours long. There were multiple bathrooms on board + a bar + a gift shop ! Beautiful views and lots of new information !
