Tour Itinerary – Lake Skadar Cruise.me
Stop 1 – Virpazar: Gateway to Lake Skadar
Your journey begins in the charming lakeside village of Virpazar, the main gateway to Lake Skadar National Park. Surrounded by mountains, vineyards, and traditional stone houses, this small fishing town offers an authentic introduction to Montenegro’s natural beauty and culture.
After meeting your local skipper at the agreed meeting point, you’ll receive a short welcome and overview of the tour before boarding the boat. As we depart from the harbor, the peaceful atmosphere of the lake immediately sets the tone for the experience ahead.

Stop 2 – River Channel & Mountain Views
Step aboard our traditional wooden boat and relax as we cruise through the narrow river channel leading into the open lake. Lush vegetation and floating water lilies surround us, creating a tranquil and picturesque start to the journey.
As we emerge onto the wider waters, admire the dramatic mountain landscapes in the distance, including the Albanian Alps (Prokletije) and the distinctive Vranjina Island rising from the lake.
30 min
Stop 3 – Lesendro Fortress & Bird Habitat
Passing beneath the Tanki Rt bridge, we enter an area covered with floating water chestnuts — one of the lake’s most unique natural features. Soon, the historic Lesendro Fortress appears, standing proudly on the lake’s edge.
Built in the 18th century and later reinforced during the rule of Petar II Petrović-Njegoš, this former defensive stronghold holds great historical importance. Today, the surrounding wetlands form a protected bird habitat where you may spot cormorants, herons, and other native species.
30 min
Stop 4 – Kamenik & Water Lily Fields
Continuing deeper into untouched nature, we approach the peaceful area of Kamenik, often called Montenegro’s “Amazon” due to its dense vegetation and wild islands.
Here, vast fields of white and yellow water lilies spread across the water’s surface, creating one of the most photogenic landscapes on Lake Skadar. This serene setting is perfect for relaxing and capturing unforgettable photos.

40 min
Stop 5 – Swimming & Relaxing Return
At a carefully selected open-water location, you’ll have the opportunity to swim in the clear waters of Lake Skadar, surrounded by breathtaking mountain views and complete tranquility.
Afterward, we begin our gentle cruise back to Virpazar. As you relax on board, enjoy a glass of local wine while taking in the final panoramic views of the lake. The calm atmosphere and natural beauty provide the perfect ending to your unforgettable experience.

A Private Tour You Won’t Regret
The booking process was smooth, and they even checked in with us again and adjusted the schedule based on the previous day’s weather conditions.
Parking in Virpazar can be extremely difficult, so having access to a parking spot in a relatively quiet area was a huge plus, even though the space itself was a little tight.
At the end of the day, though, this is a boat tour, so the most important thing is whether the tour itself was good — and it definitely was.
The boat clearly wasn’t brand-new, but even the newer boats around the lake don’t seem to have many additional facilities anyway. If anything, I actually liked this boat because it suited the atmosphere of Lake Skadar very well.
Most importantly, our guide was incredibly friendly. He gave us as much information as possible and made a real effort to adjust the tour to our preferred pace throughout the trip.
They mainly offer small private tours, so the price is naturally higher than joining a group tour. But if there’s one place where I think a private tour is absolutely worth the extra money, it’s Lake Skadar. The private experience was worth more than what we paid for it.
If your travel budget allows, I would definitely recommend choosing a private tour. I obviously haven’t tried every other operator in the area, but if you decide to go private, I don’t think you’ll regret choosing this one.

A perfect day on, in, and over the lake
A perfect day! We booked directly via WhatsApp through the website and received confirmation within a few minutes. There was a parking space available on-site, but everything is very tight. If necessary, there are parking spaces available throughout the town and the distances are not far. Our skipper Zoran showed us many facets of the lake and the surrounding area. As a local who lives right by the lake, he knows every millimeter of the lake. Via the Kom Monastery, we went to the small village of Karuc through small side channels, through which only small boats can pass (depending on the water level). After a short stop here and a jump into the cool water, we headed back at sunset. We really had a perfect day and the best skipper👍🏻

A boat trip on the lake
We had an amazing experience on Skadar Lake! They responded very quickly and everything was well organized from the beginning. The boat was very comfortable and perfect for exploring the lake.
A special thank you to our captain, Petar! He took so many beautiful photos of us, stopped at amazing and interesting locations around Skadar Lake, and was always happy to accommodate all our requests and wishes. He really made the whole experience special.
We highly recommend booking a Skadar Lake tour with this company. We had a wonderful time and would definitely choose them again! ❤️

Private boat tour on the beautiful lake
While looking for a provider for a private boat tour, we came across this company. The inquiry and coordination were all done via WhatsApp and were possible on short notice.
It was a bit difficult to find the company because the sign on the street didn't match 100%, but we found the boat then.
The tour was beautiful and very relaxing. There were four of us. Our skipper Filip was very friendly and helpful. We learned a lot about the lake and he was also always able to answer our questions. On the way, we also visited the Kom Monastery, where we made a short stop.
It was also great that drinks were included in the tour.
We really enjoyed the 3 hours.
