Create your own pair of traditional Japanese chopsticks in this hands-on workshop in Kyoto. In this beginner-friendly experience, you will shape, sand, and finish your chopsticks while learning about their role in Japanese daily life and culture. The workshop includes Japanese hinoki (cypress) wood at no additional cost, known for its light weight and pleasant natural aroma. Guests may also choose to upgrade to other premium woods such as whitewood, cherry, walnut, or purpleheart for an additional fee, each offering a unique color and texture. Throughout the experience, your guide will explain the cultural background of chopsticks and Japanese craftsmanship in a simple and engaging way. Great relaxing fun. Whole family got into it. Engraved family name on one stick and nickname on the other for us all. Matt was awesome to work with. Knew what he was doing and had fun with us too. Earnt his 5 stars :)

Worth it!
We were very professionally and well instructed in the making of the chopsticks. You could choose between different types of wood, which is very cool; furthermore, we had ours engraved for a small fee. I can only recommend it!!

Unique Kyoto Experience
Such a fun unique experience! Many options for wood as well as engraving which is done by laser that I chose to do & turned out really nice. Everyone was super friendly & helpful. I’m coming back to do the kintsugi class too!
