Itinerary
This wonderful place is located in the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region, Georgia. The small city of Martvili is just half an hour away from Kutaisi. Martvili district is truly one of the gorgeous places in Georgia – combining a unique natural environment. You will be shocked by brilliant scenery, sensational waterfalls, and a boat trip in the river with deep green color. You can take a boat with a boatman, and he will take you on an unforgettable journey in the canyon. The walls of the canyons are covered with moss. Martvili Canyon is a fantastic place to adventure with family, friends, and co-workers.
Kumistavi owes a famous legend about Amirani for the sonorous naming of the “Cave of Prometheus.” The legend says that Amirani, like Prometheus, angered the Gods and was punished brutally. The eagle tormented him, eating his liver; however, unlike the Greek giant, cruel Gods were chained. Amirani, not to the rock, but inside a massive cave. Khvamli Mountain is visible from Prometheus Cave, where the legend says Prometheus was chained. Spectacular views of stalactites, stalagmites, petrified waterfalls, underground rivers, and cave lakes. The cave has colorful lights, ranging from orange-red to pink and blue.

It was a very informative and adventurous experience with beautiful places and views
Maria was great and we had so much fun with her. She is very sweet and kind and knows a lot about the trip. Thank you!
The guide was very good and impressive, we had a lot of fun
Too much time in the bus, too little time for experiences. The route needs improvement. Overall a good experience
Excellent! Thank you George for the wonderful trip. Yes, the travel is long and if you can stay in Kutaisi for a day, may be consider the same. However, despite the early start at 7am and late end at 11pm - the trip is truly amazing and a complete money’s worth. My parents and I enjoyed the caves and the canyon despite it tiring us totally and the waterfall was just the icing on the cake. Our guide George was very helpful right from the start, shared the history of Georgia with us, accompanied us at all the sites and ensured that we made the most of the long day.
It’s a long drive, but definitely worth it! Prometheus Cave is spectacular and absolutely worth visiting. A big thanks to Mariam for the great coordination and for making the whole experience so much fun!
George was such a great tour guide, taught us a lot about Georgian history and the historical context of all the areas we visited.incredible experience and would highly recommend
The tour was very good, although the weather did not cooperate. Plenty of stops for a coffee or bathroom break. The guide, Nicolás, was a sweetheart, super attentive to everything, and he entertained us with the history of Georgia, legends of the caves, and accompanied us throughout the entire tour of the Canyon and the Caves. We will repeat, and I hope the weather lets us take the boat ride (caves and canyon)!!
If u wanna see some exotic nature, tired of same scene around Tbilisi, try to join this tour!
Thanks to Nicholas for a great tour and Merab for his safe driving! Both the cave and the canyon were beautiful, and great food at the restaurant we stopped at. Do be aware that the boat tour may be canceled because of rain, so keep an eye on the weather. The zipline is fairly pricey (₾60 atop entrance fee), so keep that in mind as well.
